2004 MN girls...

Post by massalsa » Tue Aug 21, 2018 12:21 pm

I heard a couple of times over the last 2 weeks about the class of 2004 girls. Might be the best year yet for MN?!? That is what a couple of people inferred in conversation. I saw that there are 2 U14 teams heading out to NAHA and am guessing that some of those are 2004 girls but quite honestly know very little about that year.

Also saw that some 2022-2023 class girls from MN committed to the Gophers this past week. Are they part of the vaunted MN 2004 class (7th & 8th graders this year)?

I hope that they are great...thanks for any info...go MN Girls hockey!

AAA hockey fuzzes things up, because it'd probably be easier to classify girls by school year. The three girls who committed to MN and two who committed to MN State are all 2004s in the Class of 2022, and are 9th graders this winter.

I was looking over the teams listed on the NAHA website and see there is another MN 14U team besides the 2 - OS teams

Here is the link to the NAHA teams. Click division then team then roster.

Sure seems like that age group is having success so far. It’s pretty striking too, because I know a handful of high to very high end kids in that age group that aren’t there.

I’m sure parents are focused on the recruiting value - I’m not sure how much hockey development value there is in lopsided wins. From the scores so far, I would not be at all surprised to see the two OS teams meet in the finals. Which says pretty good things about both Minnesota hockey in the 2004 age group.

Anyone know how the championship game in the U14 division between the White team and Pittsburgh came out? The computer guy seems to have gone home early.

For those interested in this age group, the D10 u14 tier 1 team is playing D3 at Fogerty at 820, both teams undefeated going into the game. This is a limited view into this age group - lots of good kids aren’t playing in this game. But I don’t think I’m being aggressive in saying maybe 10 future D1 players will be on the ice (maybe more). Should be fun!
