Players who left

Post by The51 »

Listened to the most recent YHH pod as they talked about some of the players who left for Ann Arbor or other options. Cullen Potter with Dallas and Conrad Fondrk with Mount St. Charles.

This got me to thinking. Does anyone keep an official list of the kids who leave early for other options? Would be curious to track

I'm not sure Potter was ever really here. I think he was with Green Bay Jr. Gamblers for a couple years before Dallas. The word is the parents want to get him to the NHL ASAP. They seem to be hockey nomads. I saw him play in the Tier1 Elite playoffs in Blaine last week and he was the best player of any age that I saw in the tournament.

Agree, he is a tough one to judge because he never technically played HS. Doesn't appear as if Fondrk did either. That would be another interesting list, players who left after Bantams, although I'm not sure how big it would be.

Also agree with your take on Potter he looked exceptional. That Dallas team was very impressive

He's no longer in Green Bay because his mom managed to get Green Bay's tier 1 card yanked due to her shenanigans. She's like Pig Pen from Peanuts...just a cloud of ch*t where ever she goes.

From what I understand, didn’t pay dues to WAHA and got their charter and affiliation pulled. If you go to their website, they don’t have any teams this year. Most recent team tabs are from 2021-2022 season

Anyone who has ever encountered Potter’s parents during a youth sports competition—hockey or otherwise—know who they are because you can’t miss them. Kids played against him in lacrosse a number of years back and everyone was asking who the “crazy” guy was at game. It was Potter’s dad. Yikes. Kid is very athletic, no doubt. I hope his parents don’t ruin him.

Both parents were at the game I saw in Blaine and seemed pretty subdued. Definitely less “crazy” than some parents I saw and downright docile compared to some coaches.

Good. Hopefully they’ve mellowed over the years.

That would be good because from what I saw it would take a monumental collapse for that kid to not play D1 and probably even to get drafted

They were also bringing in "ringers" for wknd series who weren't rostered in place of kids who actually paid to be on the team, kids without USA hockey numbers, etc. I remember when she took an '07 team to a tourney out in Detroit, didn't have a tier 1 card at the time and thought the tourney would let her in anyway...USA hockey was like nuh uh, hit the bricks. So those parents paid a ton of money to vacation for a wknd...in Detroit. Go back to her days of coaching at Ohio State and every stop after that, just a complete ch*t show and carnage left in her wake.

The absolute best was her getting escorted out of MN Made by police years ago at a youth tourney. She is just the absolute worst, the perfect caricature of a terrible hockey parent.

Yep, this is my experience with them. Both her and her husband.
