Since the first game is in Rapids I think I'll have to attend. Unfortunately, Peterson and Bischoff won't be able to play; Peterson: vacation, Bischoff: USHL. Looking for a fun event as a last hurrah of the 2013 high school season.
Little annoyed they went to Warroad and Roseau to grab a few players, whatever I guess.

Iron Range wins 6-4. Lots of fun to watch. Hunter Shepard came in halfway through the game and was fantastic. As usual, I was impressed with Lucas Debenedet from I-Falls. He is small but he is dynamite with the puck. Anybody know if he is being recruited? No chance he'll be in a U or UND uniform, but I could see him on a BSU or MSM.

Kinda surprised the range won... duluth had a pretty stacked team. Any info on the skills challenge?

Debenedet was impressive out there, I'm sure his size is keeping some colleges hesitant on him though. Adam Johnson looked good too, it'll be fun to see him in a Dogs jersey. This was my first time at this All Star event, I thought the game portion was definitely worth the time and money but the skills competition was a little lack luster. The best event was the breakaway competition; creative and exciting attempts by the skaters. Sheppard stonewalled everything that came his direction though the Michauds both mishandled the puck on their breakaways allowing Sheppard to poke check it away. At first the Duluth team looked a lot more cohesive while the Rangers were rather discombobulated, like one had practiced a lot together and the other hadn't at all. But as the game went on it was pretty even with a lot of rushes and good chances for both teams. Hopefully game 2 tomorrow will be on tv, didn't look like tonights was.

Yes, he is being looked at.
I know there were people looking at him at this game.
A D1 school is thinking of taking him without going to juniors first.
I would like to see him at BSU, but probably be elsewhere.

Somehow, I never got to one of these when I was in high school. Tonight will be my first time attending.
We'll see if Duluth can return the favor...

Duluth won game 2 by scoring the last 3 goals of the game and winning 8-5. The Iron Range then won the "Mini Game" 3-0 to take the series.
Too many goals to keep track of, but I know that Adam Johnson had 2 goals in the mini game (1 empty netter) and Lucas Debenedet had the other.

It was an entertaining game, though given the attendance, it might make more sense to hold this thing at Heritage. Lots of back-and-forth hockey for the first two periods, including some very pretty goals and also some rather ugly ones; the game-winning goal came off a shorthanded rush by Meirs Moore that one of the Michauds (Beau?) finished off. The East top line popped in two more after that to round out the scoring.
The ending was a bit of a circus. First, the refs had to figure out if the player they'd given a misconduct in the final minute of regulation was eligible for the mini-game, and they decided he was, since it was apparently a new game. Then, after Adam Johnson scored a few minutes into the mini-game, the Range team celebrated like they'd won, only to be told that they had to play the entirety of the mini-game. And then the refs were confused when Duluth called a time-out towards the end, too. But in the end the Range won the cup, and Adam Johnson was the deserving MVP of the series.
