I'd like to see you make that in 52 minutes if you're heading for a 7 PM game, especially if there's any snow. I guess you don't commute in the metro area during rush hour.almostashappy wrote:Google Directions says it's a 52 minute, 44 mile trip between Hill-Murray and Holy Family. I don't think you're going to get any sympathy from anyone outside of the Metro Area...for a lot of Minnesota kids, that's a normal twice a day bus ride to and from school.stpaul wrote: Transportation costs and time may be a bigger issue. BSM, AHA & HF are on the opposite end of the metro. That will make for long bus rides on school nights for kids who are expected to do homework too. There are lots of frosh, B squad, girls & minor sports that Bill Lechner has to consider too. The CSC is pretty compact geographically. North, Tartan & Mahtomedi are each just a few miles away. SSP, STA, Sibley & Simley are short hops on 694/494.

Actually, I do. But we aren't talking about rush hour traffic, if the concern (as originally expressed) is that H-M kids playing a school night game at HF (or BSM) would get home way past their bedtime. No rush-hour traffic at 10pm at night.C-dad wrote: I'd like to see you make that in 52 minutes if you're heading for a 7 PM game, especially if there's any snow. And again, my point is that it's all relative. Sure, if it's snowing the cross-town trip might take twice as long. But the same applies to bus trips taken Up North. How close is Roseau High School's nearest neighbor? How long is the average bus ride home after East Grand Forks plays an away game? How many trips does Duluth East take to the Cities each year, in search of a good game?
Travel distances are a lame excuse for any metro-area private school. Just cut a few pizzas out of your recruiting budget and you'll have more than enough money to cover the extra gas.

Private conference isn't realistic in the big picture but in HOCKEY a private school SECTION at state is.
split into a final four of (in lieu of the final 8-A, 8-AA)
BIG 1
BIG 2
SMALL
PRIVATE

I know you're aware Lechner is the AD of HM and doesn't solely make his decisions for the best interests of the boys hockey team. Take away the hockey program, HM is suitable geographically and competitively for all sports in the CSC.Pioneerprideguy wrote:Disappointed to read Lechner's response. In addition, have you forgotten their non-conference schedule? Its a hand-full competitively.

Tbh the legislature is trippin' more about the pull tabs than Zygi is. Wilf is getting all his money basically for free from the league.PuckU126 wrote:I bet Ziggy wishes the new Viking stadium could rake in that much $$ from the E-pull tabs.old goalie85 wrote:For the last time... Yeah, the NFL is forking over a sizable portion, but not the whole tab for the organization. Right now, both parties are trippin'. MN wants the organization to pay more because of their failed plan with the E-tabs.thestickler07 wrote:Tbh the legislature is trippin' more about the pull tabs than Zygi is. Wilf and the Vikings' org. are not obligated to pay more. The State Leg. approved and Gov. Dayton SIGNED the agreement so they are contractually obligated to pay the agreed upon amount. To make up for their failed plan, put a casino / localized betting within the stadium. $$

Legalized gambling/casino in Minneapolis? Would be so down.PuckU126 wrote:Yeah, the NFL is forking over a sizable portion, but not the whole tab for the organization. Never would happen though, the whole state has an embarrassing amount of self loathing in everything gaming/sports related. Plus that would make the Twin Cities relevant and the rubes don't want that.
Yeah, it won't happen. Too bad really. It would include an increase in revenue for the city and state, job opportunities for the public and an increase in popularity to the team and the city.thestickler07 wrote:Legalized gambling/casino in Minneapolis? STA
I don't think there is much doubt that STA will get placed by the MSHSL in the South Suburban. They are a very good fit with those schools in football, hockey, basketball & swimming. They have great facilities. They are right in the neighborhood. As with moving to AA in hockey, this should have been done years ago.old goalie85 wrote:STA should just find a conference. And soon.
Cretin's moved to the SEC has been a success. They play a competitive schedule with 9 top schools. They do not dominate in any sport. STA playing in the SSC will be the same.

PPG:
I would say the answer to your first question is: Pretty good. It is extremely likely that the Classic Suburban schools will reform a new conference without St. Thomas. The answer to your second question, however, is almost zero. The public schools in the Classic Suburban will have a difficult time expelling Hill-Murray because they cannot make the same demographic argument that they can make with St. Thomas. If the Classic Suburban expelled Hill, it is very likely that, given their criteria, the State High School League would place Hill right back in the Classic Suburban, which they are not likely to do with St. Thomas, which iwll probably end up in the South Suburban

The MSHSL has to place a few schools late this summer, I doubt the CSC will reform prior to that happening. As for Hill Murray they seem pretty content in the CSC and the CSC seems pretty content with Hill. Aside from hockey it has been a good fit for both.
A group of Catholic schools had a meeting on forming a conference, Cretin declined to attend which probably killed the conference, then Hill said they really didn't want to leave their current situation either.
