Picking Sauk Rapids to win it all. Has been best team in section last month. Alexandria will be in the final but lack scoring to prevail.

No matter what expect semi-finals and finals to be the most competitive in section in many years.
Nah! I think the section still goes through Cathedral and Alex.
I have tried making a prediction multiples times already with no obvious answer.. I think this is too close of a race between 4 or 5 teams that can all beat each other on any given night.. Every top team in the section has lost at least twice to other section opponents

5 Sartell and 6 FF both could upset opponent in quarterfinals. No reason 3, 4, or 5 could upset in semi-finals. Would not have been likely in last few seasons.

These are playoffs and team with experience and playoff success usually prevail, that would mean Apollo, but their goal tending is suspect.

Expect most games to be very competitive and exciting for the players and fans.

My pick would be Alex.

SCC a close second
with Apollo and Sartell right behind.

Sauk Rapids a long shot.

Everyone else, no chance.

Why would 3,4,5 be unable to upset in semis? Both Sauk rapids and sartell have beat SCC who is the team they will play. Apollo has already beaten the Alex team they will play.. So tell me why they don't have a chance at an upset?

Like predictions in the fact there will be OT games, could be a number of OT games. Nothing more exciting, every play becomes intense.

Last season was at Fergus Falls quarter final win over Willmar in OT, man it was exciting for FF and heart crushing for Willmar.

Good luck to all teams.

I'll throw my two cents in to this bit even though it would appear that everyone knows this section is a complete toss up.

First, I am pumped that FINALLY these sections seem to make a little bit of sense. I am absolutely stoked to be able to watch Cathedral and Sauk Rapids play in meaningful games against some local competition for a change. It'll be nice for some more rivalries to intensify in Central Minnesota.

What do I personally want for a section final?

#1 Cathedral vs. #3 Apollo. I think the MAC would be a fun place to be for that one. Home rink of both teams and I'd imagine it'd get a little crazy in there.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised (nor upset) with any of the top 5 teams playing in that game and representing a pretty deep section at state. Any way you slice it the section 6A playoffs will be a fun one to watch.

Cathedral has the best player in the section in Wil Hammer. I won't even entertain the idea of a debate. But, there are several other very good players in the section in guys like Kothenbeutel and Breidenbach. There are also some teams that work very well together and play hard like Sartell and Alexandria.

In the end, I've got the Crusaders with what I would say would be the best player, best top line and best goalie. I don't think they are the deepest team, but if their 2nd and 3rd lines can play a tie game with other teams in this section their top line should be able to win. Easier said than done though.

#1 Cathedral rolls over #8 little falls 8-1.
#2 Alexandria takes down #7 Prairie Centre 3-1.
#3 apollo beats #6 Fergus falls 3-0.
#5 Sartell beats #4 Sauk Rapids 3-2 in an absolute barnburner.

Picking Sartell and Apollo to meet in final

Sartell & Sauk had to be a great 3rd period.

It was as intense of a hockey game as I've ever seen. Two greats crowds provided an awesome atmosphere all night.

i don't think that your picks are much of an underdog. Apollo has already beaten alexandria and sartell has already beaten cathedral.

Semifinal Saturday at the MAC in St. Cloud.

#2 Alexandria vs #3 St. Cloud Apollo@ 5:30pm????

The early matchup will feature two teams that split their games during the regular season. The Apollo Eagles are the defending section champion and have guys that are proven playoff winners. That being said, Alexandia is a tested team that works very well together. Along with the other semifinal, I think this one comes down to the wire. I'll take the Cardinals 3-2

#1 Cathedral vs #5 Sartell-St. Stephen@7:45pm

The primetime game features two rivals that also split their season series with each team winning 3-2. This game will include the sections best player(Will Hammer) who can take over any game by himself. Although Cathedral has better top end talent, I think sartell is a much deeper team that rolls 3 equal lines. I predict this one to be a barn burner, with Sartell containing Cathedrals top line long enough to pull off the mild upset. I'm taking Sartell 3-2(OT).

SCC beats Sartell 3-1 no suprises there. SCC plays Alex in the final, my predicting 3-2 Cathedral.
3rd line grinders are real hockey players.
