No single A candidates? Seems the brain trust could have "easily" left a couple of these names off for kid from class 1A. :-#

4 actually. They're walking away with a solid MN class.

Nice of them to spread the wealth with these picks.

Nass is the best player I have seen this season in both the Elite League and MSHL.

Snuggerud and Spinner have yet to get their team to the big show and cant win a big game.
Slattery - good player but inconsistent.
Cline - 36 points against nobody.
Nanne - well, we all know how he got here! I didnt know you could be the 4th best player on your team and get nominated for this award. Over rated but great PR. Wouldnt surprise me if he won it! Good luck Lou, I mean Tyler!

Avery Peterson great player but northern schedule is a cake walk.

Benilde just lost to Totino-Grace. Big players (Naas) usually shouldn't let that happen. Not to mention their schedule isn't exactly impressive.

Nanne is a very good defenseman. Fidler probably should have gotten the nod over him though. Also, Beaulieu is a better defenseman.

Eden Prairie is not doing well enough for either Spinner or Snuggerud to overcome a vote split.

Grand Rapids' performance SHOULD hurt Peterson's chances, but he came into the season as the runaway favorite, so he's probably still okay.

Wolff is a great defensemen, but even dman winners of the award typically have better stats.

Cline is good, but not THAT much better than Lau. Same goes for Yon/Strand.

So, I'm going to say Peterson, then Naas, then Beaulieu, then Slattery.

With Nanne, are you saying 4th best player or 4th best Sr? Only seniors I could see are Munson and Fidler, but the award is for Srs only so think you may be off on that one. Tyler is a great HS player and has continued to improve every time he plays. OSU will be happy with his game.

Agree with your assessment on Slattery. Spinner and Snuggerud as well.

Naas-not so much. Think his lack of college recruiting would agree with that.

I think its down to Peterson, Spinner and Snuggerud. Of the 3, Spinner has the highest compete level and comes to play every night.

Shake things up and give it to Wahlin. Yeah he's only a junior, but the kid has been tearing it up.

34 Goals
62 Points

And he's playing in AA in the Metro Area.....

Like my wife said,
"#18 in green is a thing of beauty to watch (playing hockey)."

He is and UND will be NCAA finalists until he leaves for the pros.

I guess he'll have to stay around another year to win it.

Like who? Someone help me out if I'm forgetting someone, but I can think of a lot of AA players who would be ahead of any Class A players on the snub list. I mean, who is the best senior in Class A? It's just not a great year for senior top-end talent in the entire class.

Overall, I like the list. Only a handful who I wouldn't have had on a preseason list, and I think they earned their way on it with quality seasons.

Are underclassmen not eligible? I thought for sure Wahlin would at least by a finalist.

Frentz, Isaacson, Kilian, Hammer, Wasbotten, to name a few. I know it's 'A' but is it where and who you play or HOW you play? Maybe do a AA and A player.

If Wahlin stayed for his senior year, I have no doubt in my mind that he would win Mr. Hockey.

I haven't seen him play so I'll have to refer to your judgement but how would you compare him to some other MN kids who have gone on to UND lately? Nelson, Forbert, Ausmus, etc?

I think if Tommy Novak stays around he might have something to say about that.

As for this year, it seems like it could go to a number of guys on this list.
I agreed with the post above about the problems the EP boys have had at winning big games so Im out on them. I don't see Nanne winning.
I put my vote down for Avery Peterson but I think Slattery will end up winning.
