Best and Worst Jerseys

Post by Cadets16 » Mon Feb 24, 2014 8:42 pm

Thought it would be fun to discuss one of the more fun part of high school hockey- the uniforms.

What are your favorites/least favorites?

Here are my favorites,

Edina - the green/yellow/white looks sick and white jerseys look so clean
Burnsville - same premise as edina, though I would ditch the black name tape
STA - the blue jerseys look sleek and like a throwback, while the white looks clean and sophisticated with the emblems on the shoulders
BSM - the all red combination too looks like a classic jersey, and is very distinguishable

Jefferson has the best colors in mn.
DE could've "easily" won state the last 5 years.

I agree, the light blue looks very nice. Looked cool on the ice against Burnsville.

No question. Their units from late 80s/early 90s were so cool. Also Grand Rapids old school Orange are sweet.

Burnsville should be disqualified from this "favorites" list thanks to their too-painful-to-look-at NASCAR-style mock-European warm-up sweaters.

It always comes up when this topic is raised, but I still like Hibbing's jerseys.

Cloquet is the best for me, with Warroad as a close second.

I agree about Edina, they're just so clean, and I definitely respect teams that keep their uniforms around for generations, makes it more meaningful to put it on.

I've also really liked the blue Minnetonka jerseys that said "Skippers" diagonally down the front. Also, the Hill-Murray set that had the pioneer on the front was cool. Much better than their current unis in my opinion.

I like BSM's, especially since they've refused to add black into the color combination (I feel like it mutes the other colors), but they lose points for being the Red Wings jerseys with a different logo. I don't like when high school teams take a template from a pro team, although they're not the only ones to do that.

I also like how BSM has more than one helmet. I've never understood why more teams don't do that. I'm sure Bauer, CCM and Reebok would love to give out more helmets to high-exposure programs like Edina, Wayzata and Hill-Murray.

I like Edina's Whites, Warroad's Black, Both of East's Jerseys and the Old Jefferson blue. The new jefferson jerseys I'm not a fan of.
Also Im a big fan of Maple groves Jerseys. I like the color scheme and the numbers on there jerseys. I feel like they have changed there jerseys a decent amount over recent years so it might not be up-to-date

One thing I dislike with jerseys is when a team changes them a lot over in a short period of time. I'm not saying they shoudn't switch it up every once in awhile but some of these teams have a new one every year.

Old school Jefferson baby blue, with the lettering diagonal, Eden Prairie's new whites, Edina, Rapids orange, Roseau, but none beat the Lumberjacks

Jefferson powder blue, hands down. And I'm not a Bloomington guy.

Is there a college team that has the Jefferson color combo? Seems like UNC is close, but not the same. There's something about that 80s Jefferson jersey. Like nobody else has that look. That sounds impossible- just wondering if that color combo is out there...

I'm a homer but I like STA's. Like their blues more than whites, wish it would just say cadets across the chest in the same font as the blues. They also have home and away helmets.

Jefferson wins this but it's close. Edina is right there.

The worst is Hermantown.

For me, it is a toss up between Warroad, Cloquet, and Duluth East.

Wayzata, Edina, Burnsville, and Jefferson are also sweet.

The home jerseys the United girls wore last week were pretty great. Socks too. For the guys it is and always will be the Lumberjack. I hope they never paint over it on the outside of the barn either.

I don't know of an exact match, but the AHL Milwaukee Admirals' 3rd Jersey sports the "Columbia Blue" Like Jefferson's... and I chose a pick of Minnesota's own Zach Budish, sporting one. :)

I liked Bloomington Kennedy's jersey with the golden flying eagle in the 1980's

Superior is another team using snappy light/powder blue unis

Yes but the pallor of the player's faces and the clouds that seems to always hover over the arenas skew the vibrancy of the Superior blue.

Agree on all. Not a fan of the BSM home "white" that is actually cream. They look dingy to me.

Nothing better than Ely's white and red with the cartoon like timber wolf on it.
