Im counting about 7 D1s on this list.

Exiled One: now that I look at list again, why not include the only two MSHSL NHL Central Scouting Draftwatch Dmen: McNeeley(D1) and Sadek? Also, Jacob Olsen at HM is already D1

Now that Novak is out and Bethune is still in, my sense would be there might be a split vote on any metro selection and therefore Bethunes chances have increased. Unless there is a non citizen eligibility issue.

In that case, it probably depends on the state tourney winner and individual performance, likely Edina Malmquist or LVN one of Poehlings
They do the final voting before they know anything on the state tourney champ

Fair enough. I added all three.

I've got 23 players on the "watch" list. I'll narrow it down after Elite League, but that's still a lot of candidates. It's the exact opposite of last season when Avery Peterson led from start to finish. This would have been a lot more interesting race with Novak, Freytag, Wahlin, and Boeser in it. Any one of those guys would have been the favorite if they stayed.

If Im right, the following 10 are D1 already, and could be considered the
likely early frontrunners for nomination. Again, chances are it would be split metro vote, favoring Bethune for the win if he has his usual good season.

Nick Poehling-F-Lakeville North
Jack Poehling-F-Lakeville North
Dylan Malmquist-F-Edina
Kobe Roth-F-Warroad
Jared Bethune-F-Warroad
Ben Newhouse-D-Benilde
Seamus Donohue-D-St. Thomas
Jack Sadek-D-Lakeville North
Jack McNeely-D-Lakeville North
Jacob Olson-D-Hill-Murray

Sadek has not committed anywhere yet. Not sure if Donohue has either.

Left Sadek as the 10th candidate, even thought not D1 committed, because of his NHL Central Scouting Rank

Equally fun. . . and, for similar "technical" reasons, here is a list of Minnesota Goaltenders who will be HS seniors but won't be winning the Brimsek Award. . .

G Jake Kielly - Eden Prairie
G Andrew Lindgren - Eagan
G Zach Driscoll - Eastview
G Evan Robert - Tartan/SSM

(Not sure about Ahrens)

I think there are probably about four kids on this list that could win that award. Still time for them though. The rest will be fine and remain in the running for the "I would almost certainly have been Mr. Hockey if I had stayed" award.

I think if all stayed, Boeser or Gersich would have won.

Gotta add Jake Jaremko to the list based on his Elite League performance thus far. I wouldn't be surprised if he commits sometime before the beginning of the HS season.

That kid is unreal in the elite league.

Watchout during the regular season, going to be a nightmare to contain all year.

Im sticking with Bethune, but Jaremko and Kierstad are the reason Im keeping the Elks ranked 7th going into preseason. ( Except Im relying on others opinion that Meyers can get the job done in net.)

I'm going to try to get to a top 10 by the beginning of the season, but these guys are making it difficult with their solid Elite League play.

Malmquist Mr Hockey 2015

Post by JaginCake »

Malmquist Mr Hockey 2015 versatile scorer, as he showed as a freshman and sophmore, all around player as a junior. Many years since Edina has had (Ranheim) a player who is just that much ahead of all the rest.
