Grand Rapids at Forest Lake (Sat.)

Post by TheHockeyDJ »

Rapids dominated at Bemidji in a 7-4 win, FL lost to STMA 2-1 in OT tonight. This has been a great rivalry over the years. Huge 7AA game! This will be audio broadcast on msbnsports.net

GR by at least 4.

In STMA game, FL goalie made some huge saves early on and kept game from being a 3-0 lead. FL then given a goal on a puck that ref guessed went in (nobody celebrated because the players never saw it go in).

Don't see them hanging with GR.

I do not agree with that game assessment. I must have stood at the other end of the rink. it was a good, evenly, played game. Both teams had their flurries where they looked like a goal could have been scored. in fact standing on the end wall behind the goal St Michael goalie reached back and pulled one goal out before, the worst skating high school ref I ever saw, could get in position to see the play. (That's part of the game and was a nice heads up play by the goalie) The goal puckfan is talking about was a shot/pass from behind the net that bounced in off the back leg of the goalie. Both teams skated hard, in my opinion, both teams looked like they were getting tired, I think the major concern of both teams is depth.
Fairly clean game (in the ref's eyes) only one St Michael Power play in the whole game. Good Crowd, fun game for the fans to watch.

one last thing - just to clarify on my last post. I am not disagreeing that the Flake goalie made so huge saves. he did. but so did the St Michael Goalie. Both goalies kept their teams in the game. I would guess shots were even.

rapids overcame a 2-0 deficit to win 6-3. Mattson with the hatty for GR. rapids was without Bischoff, Dunell, and LaRoque tonight. Big road win for GR overcoming the shuffled lines and officials giving FL a power play every other minute.
