Took down, Hill and now STA. Hard to argue otherwise.

Wins over:

Cretin 7-5
Breck 3-1
Rapids 5-3
Hill 4-0
Stillwater 8-2
Now STA 5-3

This team is for real and arguably a top 7 or 8 team for A/AA

Good enough to have Hermantown earn their 6th straight runner-up trophy.

They play well in their own Barn. The whole cart before the horse analogy comes to mind when you want to anoint them the best team in the state. They have split with the two best teams they have played and tied DM. The upcoming Tartan game should be interesting. They are a threat but it is a home game for Maht so who knows. Either way keeping Hermantown as the runner up is a victory for everyone.

No excuses here. They are a good team. They had 8-10 high quality chances and buried 5. 4 for 5 in the first period on 10 shots.
STA had 14-16 (no exaggerating) and a number of PPlays and could only bury 3 on 34shots. Mahtomedi goalie played a very good game. Obviously he did the same to HM. Good combo, finish your chances and good/great goaltending.
Hats of to the Zephers.
Best team in state no, but in A, quite possibly.

Zephers ,good team? Yes #1 in state, come on. Apparently you are forgetting the 8-1 pasting they took the 1st time they played STA. this was a good game for the Zephers but look not making excuses for STA they lost fair and square but shots were lobsided, STA played their backup goalie and wthl HM coming up was somewhat of a trap game for them

Goaltending appears to have been a major issue for STA in giving up 4 goals on 9 shots in the first period. Very tough to start out in a deep hole and recover against a solid team like The Zephs. Nice job a Zephers!

JACK BECKER for MR HOCKEY 2016!!!

why not, he's the catalyst of the Zeph's
he's on the NHL draft list
he's a hometown kid playing in a small school...let's be honest if he was at Hill or STA he would be a poster child of the MSHSL

Why is that a victory for everyone? They probably won't move up until they win another championship.

The Zeph's have an enrollment of almost 1,200 which is close to the automatic bump to AA. It shouldn't be a big surprise that they have been very successful in single A.

Mahtomedi is one of if not the largest A school in size at 1,143 students and has the largest youth program of any A school with 4 BN and 6 PW teams.
Hermantown has 615 students with 3 BN and 3 PW teams.
STA has hid this team in section 4A as the only time recently they went to state was in 2010 I think.
They have a great program and have always been good just not able to get by STAA in sections.

With all due respect, they are far from overrated . . . the talent level is outstanding, however, Mahtomedi played their systems extremely well and buried almost every good opportunity, exactly what they need to do against Hermantown.

This comes up every year when a class A team gets hot.
If they want to be crowned as the best, then they should opt up.

Every team, during the year, has it's ups and downs.
No offense to Hastings, but didn't they just get a tie with Mahtomedi on Saturday?

Maybe you can crown them, if and when they win the title, but not before then
What is a Green Wave anyway?

I would say Mahtomedi is somewhere around the 13 mark overall in AA and A.
This is like the LN is the best team ever thread, a little premature. It was one game.

STA started their #1 goalie and he got yanked mid-first period after giving up 3 goals on 6 shots. Then their #2 played rest of the game.
