Will Lou Nanne ever be unbiased.
I get tired of The Fossil Lou always announcing for Edina. Anyone else? I understand he has been an icon for The Minnesota State High School Hockey Tourney for an eternity, but really Lou all the calls aren't against The Hornets.

No, he'll always be biased. Its to be expected.bronco2828 wrote:I get tired of The Fossil Lou always announcing for Edina. Anyone else? I understand he has been an icon for The Minnesota State High School Hockey Tourney for an eternity, but really Lou all the calls aren't against The Hornets.

Yeah, it's not like Edina is clearly the superior team or anything.defense wrote:No, he will not. I think the deal is he already has figured out which teams he wants, then he gets so excited he can't help it. And especially if its Edina , never will happen
Lou is so far superior to any of the other announcers, tv or radio, it's not funny.

Imagine that. An Edina fan being superior.buttonupyrovercoat wrote:Yeah, it's not like Edina is clearly the superior team or anything.defense wrote:No, he will not. The argument has nothing to do about who the better team is smarty. I am not even watching this game, Lou Nanne announces the state TOURNEMENT with a bias every year. Period. He may have the best skills etc. But he also has a bias.buttonupyrovercoat wrote:Yeah, it's not like Edina is clearly the superior team or anything.defense wrote:No, he will not. Lou enjoys the players with skill.
Go ahead & watch some of the mid 90s Duluth East games with him doing the color & let me know if you don't think he has a bias towards Dave Spehar....
Last year, people were complaining about Gary Thorne because he "didn't know Minnesota high school hockey" enough.....
Why do I get the feeling that a lot of people would comment a lot less on Lou Nanne's bias if Edina was losing?

I was expecting it, so didn't really didn't care too much. I did notice when he referred to Edina as "we"bronco2828 wrote:I get tired of The Fossil Lou always announcing for Edina. Anyone else? He is a homer far as Edina goes, but anyone else playing he always does bias one side or the other. And yes it seems it is for the team who is higher profile. I think he sees a bigger picture than just the game at hand. But it sure would make it hard to listen to for most fans

You'd think he'd have learned his lesson after he said there was no way Lakeville South could beat Duluth East three years ago.
He wouldn't be human if he didn't have a soft spot for Edina, particularly when his lineal descendants are playing, but he does appear to try his best to play it straight, and the value of maintaining the tradition of having him there is well worth it, from where I sit. This is just high school hockey, after all - it's not like he's a trial judge who can't have even an appearance of bias.

Lou admitted he was wrong about east on the radio and said he thought the game was over and had to correct himself. Then went on to say East has no chance with Edina. I hope he swallows his tongue and has to eat his words. I gave up on east during the ER game and thought they would fight hard with STA but wanted them to win. I am a fan

FSN might have better production quality and be more organized, but it would depend on who calls the games. Clymer's commentary isn't intolerable, but he clearly isn't a natural at it. I don't think Lou is bad. Perhaps a bit biased towards Edina, but he has enough knowledge about this level to talk about each team without sounding like an idiot. Though, I do think that from a professional standpoint, he shouldn't be saying a team has no chance against another, regardless of which teams are playing.bronco2828 wrote:I wouldn't complain if Cake Eater Lou would quit. I wish FSN would take over the broadcast. I wouldn't complain about that.Ozzie82 wrote:I think Lou does an outstanding job. It seems folks will complain about anything.
