Unusual scenario at Greenway

Post by greenway1969 »

A talented Greenway player enrolled at Cloquet this year as a 9th grader. He now has transferred back to Greenway as of this week. When is he eligible to play for Greenway? His sophomore year or his junior year?

He will be eligible for Varsity next year. Cannot play Varsity this year.

Since he is in 9th grade, the rules read at least that he can still play varsity as long as the season hasn't started. If, for example, he started varsity football somewhere then moved mid-football season, he would have to play jv football but could play varsity sports winter and spring.

Incorrect. It's one year from the first day he enrolled back in Greenway. Doesn't matter that hockey hasn't started yet.

His dad was mad at the Greenway Administration. He was driving his son back and forth to and from Cloquet everyday. That's over an hour drive one way. I haven't heard what event prompted the transfer back. My take on this is it was the father's decision and the kid had no desire to leave Greenway. An example of another selfish parent not concerned about what's best for his kid. He's expected to play bantams this year and more than likely make varsity his sophomore year.

No clue about the situation, but could a player that age play bantam?

The High School League has no authority over a bantam program. He is a second year bantam according to age.
