Section 8A: 2015-16

Post by air force one » Fri Dec 04, 2015 8:29 am

Many sections have very active threads but why not 8A? The back to back defending Class A Champions live here and have started 4-0 this year. Thief River Falls stock is on the rise and who can stop Ethan Johnson? Both EGF and TRF have a metro swing this weekend to play Breck, EGF is playing SPA and TRF is playing Tartan. What is going on with Warroad? 0-3 with a loss to Crookston and their next three games are Virginia, Grand Rapids, and Bemidji. Crookston is a healthy 2-2 with a roadie to Johnson and Tartan this weekend and then host EGF on Tuesday. And Kittson Central loses to Bagley/Fosston 2-1 last night! Park Rapids is making a metro swing this weekend too. What is the word out of Detroit Lakes? Isn't this the Laker group that did well as bantams? Red Lake Falls is stomping some opponents already this season. What is the future in Baudette? Not a great start so far with Proctor and Greenway heading north this weekend.

There is obviously at least some reshuffling at the top and maybe in the middle.

Thoughts? Observations?

EGF's to lose.
And they will.
TRF to state.

Warroad will come around, Crookston and DL and Park Rapids to fight for #3 spot.

I wonder if Warroad finally got so much flack about recruiting that they quit doing it.

Their youth teams have been pretty good lately, so we will see.

EGF, although 4 - 0 is down from last year.
I see them losing to Breck, but defeating SPA this weekend.

Thief River should beat Tartan, and also lose to Breck.
So, I do not see any thing tangible coming out of this weekend in terms of who will win the section.

It looks like, for this year, it is a 2 team race, as most have been saying.
After this year?????????????????

Elliot's just mad at EGF because they keep losing to them

Uffda! Tough weekend for the Green Wave, clearly not the team they have been the past 3 years. I hope the TRF parents didn't wear their phones out making state tournament reservations after this weekend.

Is Loven injured? He is listed as playing in only 3 of their 6 games and he has zero points.

Despite the high number of goals given up, its not as if the shots were 50-20 in those games. If Loven gets back on track and their goaltending improves, they should be just fine come playoff time.

Loven hasn't played a game. I think he was injured earlier in the school year. Possibly Christmas, as a return? Don't know the full extent of the injury.

Yea, he was on the north elite team roster, but I don't think he ever played.

TT,

What radio station usually has EGF games? Hopefully they stream...

12/12

Red Lake Falls 1
Wadena/Deer Creek 4

Prairie Center
Bagley/Fosston ?

Warroad 2
Grand Forks Central 4
Warroad was up 2-1 going into the 3rd

Thief River Falls 1
Hermantown 4

Hibbing 3
Crookston 2
Interesting after Hibbing beat EGF 3-2 on Friday evening and EGF beat Crox 7-1 on Tuesday.

Lake of the Woods 0
Park Rapids 1 OT

East Grand Forks 4
Kittson Central 1
Typical KCC/EGF game. KCC scored with 7 seconds left in the second to make it 2-1 at the second intermission. I really like what has been done with the Hallock Ice Arena, nice upgrades!

St Paul Johnson 2
Detroit Lakes 4

EGF 0
TRF 5

TRF parents melted the phone lines last night after the game making reservations in St Paul for 1-5 March.

Meh...

Any predictions on who comes out of this section to move on to st.paul? Should be an interesting section tournament.

Should be TRF but EGF is coming on, but I think it will be the Prowlers.
Other than that the rest of the boys are just having fun.
