Wayzata versus Class A teams

I think it is interesting how a school with 3000 plus students and the largest youth hockey association in the United States loses 5-3 to Hermantown
(600 students) and
needs overtime to beat Breck (400 students) at home 2-1.
What does this say about Wayzata?
I think they are the most under performing program in the state.
They only have been to the state tourney twice in the last 60 years.

Maybe, but the two A teams mentioned draw hockey players from much bigger areas than what their enrollment numbers suggest. These A teams would be top 10-15 in most years and top 5 in some years in AA.

Wayzata Association has been a great feeder program to a lot of the Privates. Take a look at past and present rosters of Brecks, BSM and etc. Tough to lose that much talent. However, agree that they grossly underperformed last year.

Also a tough draw being in probably the best section in the state.

Both of those A schools should be AA, they just want the trophies.... Feel bad for the players since the coaches are probably holding them back. I think both schools would do well, but never make the tourney again.

You're right about most of it. Wayzata has been under performing for sure.

Wayzata is not the biggest Youth hockey association in the US.

I don't know about the US, but in Minnesota the biggest Hockey association is Edina Youth Hockey Association.

Edina Hockey Association = 1280 players
Wayzata Hockey Association = 1084 players
