This is pretty clearly Wayzata's to lose, and there's a lot to like about the way the Trojans are playing right now. Great depth with three quality lines, a very solid stable of defensemen who can create some offense, and a good goalie. They have the occasional bump in the road so that risk is there, especially if they start parading to the box, but this team is well-built for playoff success.

That said, they aren't the sort of team that's going to come out and bury someone, which means that if Cretin can hang around, they could find a way to start believing. I don't think I'd so much as looked at Cretin's Hockey Hub page until after the Benilde win, so I won't claim to know much about them. That said, their goaltender does have some very good numbers, which is an important start. It looks like they have one line that carries a lot of the scoring load, and they have a coach who's been to the Tourney and succeeded there. They're certainly going in with nothing to lose.

I'd expect a comfortable Wayzata win, but stranger things have happened.

1-1 after one, shots 15-8 for wayzata.
CDH's goal was on the PP and they looked pretty good on it.
Wayzata scored perhaps 5-7 min later on a puck that looked to hit a skate of a wayzata guy. He didn't kick it, just crashing the net.
Wayzata is clearly the bigger, faster and more physical team. Their forecheck has already given CDH fits. The raiders are having a tough time getting it out of the zone, but they aren't too out of place in te neutral zone and offensive zone.
CDH top line seems to be able to keep up, the question will be depth, that is how wayzata kills you.
CDH had a breakaway and some odd man rushes, they are definitely getting some chances.
The refs didn't call a hook on the breakaway where I thought they should have.
Did anyone see te penalty on the CDH bench? From my spot it looked like Sorenson just ran into the stantion

1-1 after two, shots 28-14 for wayzata. Cretin only had one shot through 13 min or so of the period.

I thought CDH did a good job limiting the chances for how one sided it was. They are just trying to hold on. They have a good goalie, and #19 who had the hattrick against Benilde is a pretty good player, he is their best chance. I thought their D was better that period.
The refs are really letting the stick infractions go.
Not much else to report on, kind of a dull period in the sense that it was one sided towards wayzata, but really only had one or two good chances

What're your thoughts on Blake Theisen? Heard he made elite league just couldn't make the games because of conflicting schedules. Sounds like a sure fire first rounder in the draft.

4-1 final for wayzata, shots were 45-20.
My phone is close to dead so I'll be keeping the rest of my updates short.

Senden scored the game winner midway through the period when he found a soft spot in the Raider D in the slot. The puck was behind the net and he snuck into te slot and put a nice shot on the ice 5 hole.
Shortly after Duma scored short side near the blocker on a 2-1. It was a nice goal with not a lot of room to score.
The fourth goal was an empty netter by Riley. He just went in alone on a breakaway and scored.
when it was 3-1 wayzata took a penalty and with about 6-7 min left, #17 for CDH had a wide open net on a pretty passing play and just fanned. He was right next to the crease, it was as close to a guaranteed goal as you could find. That would have made it 3-2 and an interesting end, but no dice.

In the end, the better team won. Wayzata wore them down with depth.

Who is Blake Theisen and why is he relevant to this game?

Congrats to Wayzata. They were the better team tonight, and Cretin did a nice job of hanging around and generating some decent chances early with their floaters to keep this one interesting. Good work by the Trojans to hang in there and stick to their strengths, even as the game got more and more interesting. I think the Trojans could do a lot of damage next week if they stick with it. The team with the best defense usually wins, and they are that team.

In watching Cretin, you could definitely see how they pulled the upset of Benilde by sticking around. Jaunich is a nice player, and Magnuson had a great night in net to keep it interesting. They have a lot to be proud of in this playoff run.

From mnhockeyhub: "They overwhelmed us a little bit with their strength,” said O’Neill, whose team was outshot 45-20. “We hung in there, but we just couldn’t drum up any offense.”

When I watched Wayzata on Saturday against Edina, I had a pretty similar opinion. They are really strong along the boards, both offensively & defensively.

They really are a complete team that doesn't have one glaring weakness that really jumps out at you. At least I didn't notice one.
