Mr. Hockey 2017

Post by The Exiled One » Mon Mar 14, 2016 5:06 am

Well, the offseason has just begun. If history is any indication, we'll lose about a dozen kids before their senior year. That being said, here's a good place to start...

http://www.sbncollegehockey.com/high-sc ... 16-edition

No need to state the obviously, but I will anyway: If Mittelstadt returns for some insane reason, it's his award to lose. However, it looks like there's a decent chance he'll be with the Gophers next year.

As for the rest of Chris Dilks' list, I think he's got most of the correct names there, but the order is questionable. The recently committed Micah Miller at #36 may be the most notable.

I was told that originally he was headed to Minnesota. Either something changed or this was not correct.

Interesting. I guess Motzko decided not to honor the gentleman's agreement after all. ;)

Lots of talent on that team. You have to imagine Jonah Bischoff, Alex Adams, and John Stampohar will also have a shot at making D1. Seven from a single roster would be really decent. Four is pretty good too, but I don't see them ending up with less than five when it's all said and done.

What about #3 Dalton Johnson for CEC? I know i'm not closest to being the smartest guy in the room when it comes to hockey....and a big fan of CEC hockey. I just thought I would throw his name in there, because I think he's very good (actually exceptional) .

Very good player. We'll see how the off-season shakes out, but I had to cut the list off somewhere.

Assuming CM is gone, I'd say Peruni or Poehling will win . Dark horse finalist not on your list : Nolan Sullivan

CM, Perunovich, and Poehling are on a different level (when you factor in career and rep, which plays a part). If they're both gone, the race will open up.

There was another one back in '76... played for Flin Flon... averaged at least a couple trips to the sin bin per game.

Nowadays, in regards to college committed HS juniors, that's always something to question until the kid unequivocally states he's coming back.

I stayed in Grand Rapids for last weekend hotel ling it to stay and cover Cloquet's peewee AA's at the state tournament in Grand Rapids.

What a great hockey town! boblee is 100% accurate when he says, "not at Grand Rapids". I always thought this of CEC too. But sadly not the case here. Michaud, Kuhlman, and Bender have recently left early.

I'll always be a CEC hockey huge fan, but the hockey tradition/fans/arena/hockey town are unmatched here in the state of hockey. I AM looking forward to our battles with them this winter. :)

So Hain and McLaughlin will 100% turn down the USNTDP if offered?

I obviously can't guarantee that, but we would all be surprised. It literally does not happen at Grand Rapids. Go ahead and find the last kid to do it.

"literally"

This word needs to go away as soon as possible. People have no idea how to use it.

In the Edina paper today they wrote about Copeland and based off the article and the quotes from him it looks like he will be back. Probably not the most likely to win the award, but he has a real shot on being a finalist.
