State AA seeding

Post by elliott70 »

What we have...

Section 1 tonight Lakeville North or South
Section 2 Eden Prairie
Section 3 tonight STA or Bloomington Jefferson
Section 4 Friday Hill Murray or Stillwater
Section 5 tonight Maple Grove or Centennial
Section 6 Wayzata
Section 7 tonight Duluth East or Grand Rapids
Section 8 Moorhead

After tonight we will be able to guess better.

But Seed 1 will be Eden Prairie.
Not seeded will be Wayzata.
Moorhead will get seeded somewhere.

Jefferson and South will not get seeded if they make it.

So, assuming the top team makes it, the seeding should go.

1 EP
2 Stillwater
3 STA
4 Moorhead
5 Centennial

leaving Duluth East, North and Way to fill in.

Unless you follow a different guru, then...
1 EP
2 STA
3 Centenniel
4 Stillwater
5 Moorhead
With the same 3 being fill-ins.

1 EP
2 Stillwater
3 Centennial
4 STA
5 Lakeville North
with Moorhead joining DEast and Way as fillers.

And, if you put any faith in Karl:

1 EP
2 Stillwater
3 STA
4 Centennial
5 Lakeville North
with Moorhead joining DEast and Way as fillers.

I'm a little bit sad that two of the top four ranked teams (per LPH) will not be in it. More so for HF than Edina, of course.

I think Stillwater & St. Thomas Academy are the two "win & they get seeded" squads left. The others (Moorhead, Lakeville North, Centennial) could probably all have an argument both for & against and it could probably go any order.

Moorhead will still probably end up somehow playing East.

IF Lakeville North wins tonight, they deserve to be seeded since the Panthers beat both St. Thomas and Stillwater on their home ices this season...... nuff said....... :D

The more I look at it, I agree that Lakeville North > St. Thomas Academy in terms of seeding.

St. Thomas > Centennial (head to head)

The more I think about it, I think your 3 unseeds are (if LN & STA win):
-Centennial/Maple Grove
-Grand Rapids/Duluth East
-Wayzata

I think Hill Murray would nab a seed if they beat Stillwater.

Will be interesting if EP draws Wayzata, this repeats last year Championship game, might spook the Eagles a little?

If this ISN'T the matchup...then they're NOT playing with the seeds the way they have the past few years, because MYSTERIOUSLY... the 6th, 7th & 8th ranked teams have played the 3rd, 2nd and 1st seeded teams every time. And with 17 losses, Wayzata is the 8th seed, unless BJ takes down STA.

Very astute observation 59! Hadnt been aware of that. Thought the lower three were still random draw with top 3.

wouldn't be fair IMO but maybe it wouldn't be a 'bad' thing if the northern teams were both not seeded so they could avoid one another in round one.

Or.......:

1 EP
NS Wayzata

4 Centenniel
5 Lakeville North

3 Spuds
NS Duluth East

2 STA
NS Hill

59 and 1992 and Elliott

If you use the Lets Play Hockey March 2 rankings and following 59's logic and if no more sectional upsets, would the first round pairings be:

Wayz 8 vs EP 1

GR/DE 7 vs SW 2

MH 6 vs CENT 3

LVN 5 vs STA 4

Am I right or wrong?

Looks right.
And a cake walk to the final for Moorhead.
And then another pounding of Grand Rapids for the title.

First sign of dementia was last year at the age of 84 I had eggs for dinner and steak for breakfast.

Steak was good.
Eggs were over hard. Prefer a little softer.

Are we sure Rapids doesn't get the 5 over maple grove? I prefer Rapids is unseeded instead of section 7 vs. 8 matchup again but I have my doubts.
