That was nicely done. I have seen a couple of very talented GR teams get handled pretty good in this tournament over the years. Staying out of running time will be a tall order tonight.

I’ll be there for Elk Ep tonite and Edina Ep Sat

Many many great Memories at this tourney over the years

To list two fairly recent :

Hunter shepherd making over 60 saves to keep Grand Rapids in a game against Edina 5 ? Years ago. This year, Gabe could face 90

Last year’s Eden Prairie Elkriver game was really super, I was told by many it was one of the best game each of those top teams played all year . There were several 5 Minute cycles during that game with great Uninterrupted end to end play , incredible break out passes and offense through the neutral zone as well as shots on goal, I can remember saying to myself I thought I was over at the X watching the wild. I think I remember Grindian being equally amazed during that game?

For sure WestMetro. That game was so smooth to watch. Up and down and back and forth at a level you don't often see in high school.

Eden Prairie/Elk River, Grand Rapids/Edina, Grand Rapids/Eden Prairie, and Elk River/Grand Rapids were all pretty good contests last year. It was on par with the state tournament in terms of enjoyment.

This event has been fortunate to have top teams roll in over the years to keep the legacy alive. Imagine having four unranked teams year after year? Either the showcase fades into obscurity, or you lose the tradition and familiarity by inserting different teams into the mix.

Big win for Elk River, scored with 10 sec. left with the extra attacker.

Have to take my hat off to Elk River, they battled back to score late in regulation and wanted it more than EP in OT.

Nice work by the Elks. Congrats Al.

Injuns working hard down 1-0 after 1.

Tough to generate any offense for the Indians, Edina suffocating.

Damn, I was hoping they could hold them off a little more. Too much Edina.

Does Rapids have all hands on deck this week? If Blake would have stayed how big a difference would that have made?

Blake would have helped but I don't think this game would be much different. This Edina team would have been a problem for last years Injun team in my opinion.

It would have been total frustration for Blake and Gavin to try prop up this group. Other than 2 and 31 they are a dreadful HS hockey team. Those boys did the right thing moving on to juniors.

I'm kind of an old turd myself but you will never see me say some high school kids are a dreadful bunch. No matter what color jersey they wear.

It would have been fun to see a GR team with Miller-Hain-McLaughlin go up against this Edina squad.

You are free to call it what you want. An 11-0 loss and outshot 60-7 is an indicator of an extremely bad hockey product based on programs yearly hockey expectations.

So if Greenway had 3 D1 players leave after their junior year they would have given Edina a great game last night? I bet not.

I was hoping to see GR keep it out of running time and score a goal.

Not giving up on the THawks making up some ground, just hope they are not getting discouraged and not giving it their all.

Holum looked pretty downcast when they saved him from further damage last night. I hope the team doesn't give up.

What is going on with the program in general? Very different look last night compared to past Edina Classics I've attended. No cheerleaders. There were only two coaches on the bench and no student trainers. The coaches were carrying the water bottles.

Also, any one know why HC 'nuch spent so much time between the periods NOT in the locker room and at the south end of the rink?

That made me laugh ... HS players are a product now.

We will know more about GR tonight. It was a massacre yesterday but it could be that this is an exceptionally special Edina team. I can't remember a time when they had this solid of a set defensemen. They have been deep up front for the last few years but this year their top 2 lines may be among the top 5 in the state.

I know I’m going to catch flack for being the PC police, but can we please stop with the use of this term on the board? “Injun” has long been considered to be a pejorative pronunciation or spelling of Indian. I know many of the long time Rapids fans will never be fond of the name change, but there is no reason to sling around an antiquated slang term.
