Even at one after one, EP lots of speed surprised after seeing them first period they aren't doing better overall this season, maybe the second and third periods will show why? Mittelstadt and Jensen are terrific to watch, like Casey you hold your breath whenever John touches the puck. He had a terrific goal to start the scoring, under the crossbar.

Shots 15-8 in EP’s favor after 1. Scoring chances about equal for each team as an evenly played period. Mittelstadt had a nice wrist shot that went top corner and had another quality scoring chance in the 1st period.

Good, physical game so far. Penalties have been a key, with 3 of 4 goals on special teams (2 PPGs and 1 SHG), and I'm guessing that could tip the balance in the 3rd. EP certainly has more players with skill, but Cloquet is playing pretty well in its own zone after some rough moments early, and Langenbrunner is having an excellent night.

Physicality really ramped up midway through the 2nd period with some big hits along the boards. During Gavin Rasmussen’s 5 minute major, teams exchange goals. Another even period of play even though SOG favor EP 28-18 after 2. Langenbrunner with two points so far (G & A).

Cloquet single A program that opts up to AA. We will never have more skill players. Nice win boys with less talent. That’s what we do :)))

Cloquet scores two quick ones early in the third and hangs on from there to win 4-3. The Jacks were opportunistic and hung on in their own end when they needed to. EP has more skill, but it doesn't seem to be meshing right now. I know they don't have a ton on D, but moving Konin back there seems sort of desperate, and turns what could be a strong offense into a mediocre one without shoring up the defense in any meaningful way, either. They seem to be a team with an identity crisis right now. Anyway, we'll see what they can do against East tomorrow. Good week for Cloquet between this one and the Marshall win, though they'll need to build on this to climb out of the mid-teens in the rankings.

Great road win for the Jacks, with Rapids and Roseau coming to town next week, Cloquet should gain more momentum before the games against Flake, hermtown and east although nothing easy in the north

EP should have taken this game... something is off on this team. Who’s gonna talk about the elephant? Boys in purple looked strong. Eagles will lose tomorrow gained DE. Might not win another game.

Must be a few elephant issues not being addressed at EP. Being a father and coach must be difficult. I feel sorry for Jensen.

OK to bash EP I guess, but lets make the focus of the discussion to give credit to Jacks for an absolutely super body of work this week , knocking off Marshall and then EP in close pressure game after long bus trip.

They played a quality game , specially 3rd period where they came on strong and did what they had to do to win.

LL was the well deserved No. 1 star of this game , not JJ, along with Jacks goalie Carlson who turned back 36 SOGS including many quality opportunities , again in a pressure away from home environment

Jacks brought a good crowd with them with lots enthusiasm

Other comments:

-From my angle, I thought #8 Baker got the deflection on the first Stoyanoff goal, but guess I was wrong

-RE comments about John Middlestadt, yes he is coming along nicely on varsity. Younger brother Luke, according to 3 reputable bantam watcher sources, is recently playing at better caliber than Casey was at this age!!!!!!)

Thanks West. Yes, it was a nice win for the purple. We are starting to get all our horses back from injury - Bender should be ready in a couple weeks. Coach Smalley and the boys are starting to bond and trust each other. The stretch run should be interesting for sure in 7AA - boys of the north.

Should now be obvious 😀?

Hounds lost to EP, Cloquet beat EP

So Cloquet should now move up to # 1?
