Elliott, when you say despite other circumstances what do you mean?
I think seeds 1-5 will all have a shot at the section, this is as wide open as it has been in many years.
Crookston's goalie will have to be very good for them to win it all, when he doesn't play well they are an average team.
EGF has struggled but you know they will be ready to go come play off time.
TRF has probably been the most consistent of the bunch.
Warroad has shown they can be both very good and very average at times.
LOW is the sleeper

But wouldn't it be fun to see someone other than the big 3 at state...Hockeylogger wrote:Elliott, when you say despite other circumstances what do you mean?

In the history of Section 8 (not counting tier 2) only TRF, EGF and Warroad have won a state title (not including the now AA teams of Roseau Moorhead and Bemidji).
Since inception of Single A Warroad ahs 12 trips, EGF 8 trips and TRF 4 trips.
Crookston would give us a Cinderella story (or LOW).
Now Crookston has given us some very good teams in the old Private School tourney years and may have won a section title if they had participated or Cathedral and the Crookston public school team had played together, but that is a story better told by slapshooter and that bunch.

Trounced by who? Single A as a whole seems to be mediocre as a whole this year compared to other years. That isn’t just limited to section 8. If EGF, TRF, or Warroad makes it to state I don’t think they have to worry about getting put into running time or anything. At least not more than anyone else. Very mediocre teams throughout the section.
Pick the section 8 winner over a handful of other sections.

<shrug> I don't expect anyone from 8 going anywhere at state regardless of who they play.7TIMECHAMPS wrote:Trounced by who? But myself, I'm rooting for Crookston; someone new from 8 for a change.

Not even looking at how the teams did in their sections games, just rating from how we played these teams also shooting from the hip on the bottom 5 because we didn't play them and won't play Crookston until Thursday.
1. EGF

3. TRF
4. Crookston
5. LOW

With Warroad hosting the semis and finals, EGF slipping to the two seed seems to be largely irrelevant. LOW gave Warroad a tussle last night and their goaltending keeps them in most games, so the 4/5 should be an interesting QF.Green and White Fan wrote:Seedings are out:
