2AA & 6AA SEMI Saturday
Prior Lake no showed for the first half of the game easy win for holy family. 3-0 lead and 5-2 final.
Lakers can be proud of how they played through the second half, if they play like that all game it may have been different. Fire should be able to give Minnetonka great game.
Now at BIG.

Holy Family/Prior Lake:
Ended up going to this with the impending snow to get at least one game in, and then played it by ear. This game never felt in doubt. HFC is in a different class than PL with their speed and puck movement. PL had many puck control mistakes in the attacking end, which you can’t afford against a team like HFC. PL finally got on the board on a 5-on-3 PP at about the halfway point of the game, but never felt like they were going to steal it away. The only way PL was going to win was if HFC was going to hand them it. The cheap shot that was dished out to HFC’s goalie, Hayton, was the proper call with the cross check to the head area. Anything less than a 5 + Game would have been an injustice.
Cretin/Wayzata:
It wasn’t snowing too bad yet, so made the trek from Braemar to BIG, which to my surprise, was an empty arena at 2:15 pm. This was the game I really wanted to see and didn’t disappoint. Back and forth, entertaining affair that was called tightly by the refs with not much 5-on-5 play. Physical game. Cretin seemed like the faster team, while Wayzata relied on physical presence. Game came down to final seconds with a scramble in from of the Wayzata goal with Cretin down by 1. Heard some rumblings that Cretin did put the puck in the net, but was after the buzzer. I never saw the puck go in from the Cretin side of the arena. Between this game and EP/Chaska, was fortunate to see two quality games over three days.

Edina 6
St. Louis Park 1
According to MNHockeyHub.com the Hornets scored and empty netter with 12 seconds left, which is hilarious if true.
This means the Wednesday night Section championship games at Mariucci should be great.
6AA (6 pm)
Edina-Wayzata
2AA (approx. 8:30)
Minnetonka-Holy Family
St. Louis Park 1

Was at both Braemar games.
PL - HF was a bit of a snoozer, mostly because it never really seemed in doubt. Prior Lake had a couple of good wins this year to capture the 3 seed, but otherwise an apparently shaky team. Hankinsom a fun player to watch for HF. Glad to hear HF goalie is doing okay.
Tonka - Chaska: Skippers controlled the 1st period handily, though didn’t get a ton of great chances. Chaska seemed okay just defending. 2nd period was a different story. Chaska came out moving the puck and (with a few power plays to help) carried the period. After scoring to put it within one late in the period it seemed the momentum was on Chaska’s side before Brink scored a beauty short handed. The third was wide open Hockey and fun to watch, but no goals until another special teams goal for Tonka on PP. Not quite as entertaining as Chaska - EP game, but close. The regulars for both squads impressed here (Brink, Bayless, Koster, Pitlick), but Magnuson a sophomore defensemen for Chaska stood out as a possible up and comer.
