East-Marshall: great crowd, good atmosphere...and a game that went off the rails in a hurry. East was as impressive as I've seen them, and Marshall seemed to come out tentatively and quickly fell into shellshock. East was rolling in every facet...the first three goals came from different lines, Lyle and the 2nd line really went off, the Hounds shut down Grannis pretty well, and on and on. On to a tenth consecutive section final.
After the early blowout, the Elk River-Andover game provided an open, entertaining nightcap. Andover seemed the somewhat better team, especially in the 3rd period when the Elks didn't register a shot for the first 9 minutes, but the Elks tied it, and tied it again with a minute left after falling behind shortly before, and with Andover blowing a bunch of good chances to go up by 2, it seemed like it might not be the Huskies' night. But after a decent chance at the other end to start OT, the Amsoil Curse struck again, and Andover finished off the Elks.
The Huskies are a nice, shifty team with good team speed and energy. They aren't a big group, but they held up just enough against a much more forceful Elk team. They'll need to clean up a lot of things in back to have a shot on Thursday night, but they've certainly earned their way to a second section final in program history.

Great crowd? didn't they have the top closed to spectators, at least on live stream looked like maybe 1500 in the buildingkarl(east) wrote:East-Marshall: great crowd, good atmosphere...and a game that went off the rails in a hurry.
