My state tournament predictions

Post by hermantown2000 » Mon Mar 05, 2018 3:27 pm

Thought I would throw in my predictions for this years state tournamemt
Class A
Hermantown 5 vs Monticello 2)Rematch of last years classic state championship game. Monticello dose not have all the horses this year to compete with the Hermantown juggernaut
Thief River Falls 5,Alexandria 4(OT-Probably the best of the A QF matchups
Mahtomedi 7,Mankato East 0-Zephrs train keeps chugging along to semifinals
Orono,3,Litchfield 1

Semifinals
Hermantown 4,Thief River 2-Prowlers play respectfully but Hawks march onto 9th straight title game
Mahtomedi 5,Orono 4-9(2 ot) This will be the best game of the single A tournament
Final
Hermantown 6,Mahtomedi 2-3rd straight championship for the Hawks and first for Pat Andrew(as head coach).

AA
Minnetonka 5,Hill Murray 2-Skippers sail on to semifinals
St Thomas Academy 2,Centennial 1-Love or hate the Cadets STA squeezes out first state tournament championship bracket game win since that infamous championship against Hermantown in 2013
Edina 6,Lakeville North 3-If this was the Lakeville North team from a few years ago with the two Pohling kids then I would give them a good chance of winning but this is 2018.
Duluth East 8,STMA 2-Garrett Worth dominates and Hounds breeeze easily into seminfinal showdown with Edina
Semifinals
Minnetonka 3,STA9(2 ot)-Cadets battle hard defensively with favorite Skippers but Minnetonka edges them out in a classic
Edina,4, Duluth East 3(ot)Hornets hold off valiant effort by Worth and Hounds
Final
Edina, 4,Minnetonaka 3-Edina hold off late comeback by Skippers to hang another championship banner at Braemer.

Gee, how long did it take you to figure that out? Now that Hermantown has
qualified for both the Bantam AA and Pee Wee AA State Tournaments, please pull out the crystal ball and predict when H-town will grow a bag of berries and opt up.

Yeah, my only prediction is that Hermantown will overcome great adversity to win the A tourney. It's great to see how such a small program, local kids only, manages to knock off the Giants of A hockey.

Can anybody out there confirm if the program is the crappy small thing again? Need to know if I need to bring a microscope this year.

The YHH podcast previewing the state tourney mentioned the decline of the quality of the program.
