I think that East is somewhat of a mystery team right now. Thanks to Karl and others for providing us insight into what they've done in the games they have played since Jan. 26. Even in the 2nd Cloquet game, Randolph still seemed to be tinkering a bit. They haven't played many games recently, which, I'm assuming, Randolph does not have a problem with. Their practices must have been very interesting as they settled on line combinations - and which forecheck they'll go with to at least start the game. My guess is we'll see a completely different looking team than what we saw 4-5 weeks ago, especially in losses to Tonka, Brainerd and Moorhead.
I think that's a very safe assumption. I think Rando has them right where he wants them and that's where the smart money is. I expect them to be a lot better than the team that outshot Andover and lost in OT in Andover's rink back in December.
Of course you do Jeffy, you’d side with DE & Randolph at Amsoil...if they were playing this years version of the Tampa Bay Lightning 😉😛 But at least we agree on everything Hermantown related...☝️
I might take the Hounds in that one. It all depends on how many practices they got in at Amsoil beforehand... 8)

There's an outdoor rink at the ACC. That'll do. Save some gas money.
He was referring to the outdoor rink in ER where they played HDM😉 But Andover needs the experience of playing at Amsoil Saturday...since DE has most likely been practicing on that ice sheet...the past two weeks 😉🤣
Doesn't look like they've practice there at all yet. But they're scheduled there today, tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday. Looks like Cloquet and Denfeld get in on the action tomorrow as well.

It's fun to give us board banter, but I still think it's overrated. Rapids got it done there two years in a row. Unless that extra half hour on the charter bus makes the difference for those Cities teams......
I've seen the practice schedules and East has not practiced there until tonight.

That makes total sense, considering the recent weather conditions & what time Andover plays Saturday.

What about Elk River? Are they practicing at Amsoil?

I disagree. C-E-C winning first and then East and Htown.

Thanks for the link Knivey! Not exactly a choir concert, but they do a nice job with the broadcast, even though the wrong team won. Especially enjoyed the Medicine Shoppe commercial.

In the end, 7AA is what we thought it was. Andover and East are pretty clearly the top two teams. Cloquet was the only team that was even close to their tier, but came up well short today. The East-Cloquet game was a fitting summation of Cloquet's season, really: they started out running a great forecheck and making things interesting, and even managed to punch back after East went up 2-0 to add some intrigue, but then their special teams and goaltending, two issues all season long, cost them dearly on that disaster of a power play. It was cruise control for East from there, with the injury to Stoyanoff (who otherwise had a pretty solid game) serving as the final death blow. They were a team that had their flashes, but never really improved in a few key areas, and I would also submit that a few players in their senior class did not quite blossom into the front-line stars I thought they could have been when they first came up as sophomores. Regardless, I think they will be a factor in what should be a more open 7AA next season.

This was a disaster season for C-E-C the best talent they had in a long time 3 classes deep not making it to state was a disaster let alone not making the final, having 3 coaches in 3 years did not help but this year and last year I thought was C-E-C best shot in a long time to go to St. Paul they only got worse sense the 2017 semi final game that they almost won.

Not saying Esse would have done a better job with this group. Nope, not saying it.

But I would say this: be careful what you wish for, which is just another way of saying Esse would have done a better job with this group.

I totally 100,000 % agree. It is what it is, though. Coach Walters needs som years to figure things out. Overall talent drops off next year, the next year, and several years after that. That will give Walters the experience and savvy for when the next talented group comes through.

Last section final Cloquet made it too was 2008. 11 years now, no section final. 9 out of the 11 years was with Esse as the head coach. Wouldn't of made a difference; East was / is THAT good
