7AA early (really early) play-off prediction.

play-in game
Cambridge would have to have St Francis bus break down (yes St Franny will play at home so they will not be on the bus.

#8 St Francis at #1 Andover - try and keep it in stop time
#5 Elk River vs #4 Forest Lake - Flake has had a good but short season

#7 Grand Rapids vs #2 Duluth East - the future look bright for the THawks but looks over for this year
#6 Duluth Marshall vs #2 CEC - DM is wondering why they are in AA

Semis
Andover over Elk easily
CEC over DE

And off to the X go the Andover Huskies.

A section that not long ago boasted #'s in the AA top 20 now looks feeble (except Andover may reign as state champs).

I might travel with the team up to Bemidji in a couple weeks for our showdown with Bemidji. Maybe I’ll see you then would be nice to put your name to a face 🤓

I'm thinking Flake finishes 13-12 and ER 12-13. Would put ER at home if can stay within the tiebreaker. Flake over East changes all that.

So forest Lake and ELk River fighting for the 4 seed. CEC will probably finish right around .500 as well.

I keep hearing that Coach Randolf is still 'stirring the Section concoction' and that they will be ready to roll and make it to finals-maybe State.
They have way too much talent and potential for them not to make it to the finals, right?
They WILL pull it together, won't they???

Randolph will have them ready. However, Cloquet has enough talent to pull off an upset. They’ve met in the semis in recent years and either Cloquet wasn’t talented enough or was distracted with off the ice issues that derailed their focus.

No. 3 Andover (112.1) 4-0-0 16-1-1 5.1 1.0 Lost 1
No. 13 Duluth East (91.7) 4-1-0 11-5-2 3.4 2.3 Won 1

No. 27 Forest Lake (74.7) 1-3-0 9-8-0 4.6 4.1 Lost 1
No. 32 C-E-C (67.5) 3-1-0 9-9-0 3.9 2.6 Won 3
No. 36 Elk River/Zimmerman (63.3) 2-3-0 7-10-0 3.4 4.1 Lost 1

No. 49 Duluth Marshall (48.5) 1-4-0 4-13-1 3.1 4.4 Lost 1
No. 50 Grand Rapids (48.2) 2-3-0 6-14-0 2.5 4.2 Won 2

No. 54 St. Francis (44.1) 1-1-0 5-11-0 3.0 4.6 Lost 6
No. 69 Cambridge-Isanti (17.4) 0-2-0 2-15-0 2.7 7.1 Lost 9

Andover is a lock for #1
DEast still has Elk and CEC - two loses there could change things.
Flake has CEC and Duluth Marshall - they need both wins to stay at 3 - probably destined for 4 maybe 5 or even 6 if GRapids can win a couple to get close to the tiebreaker.
CEC has at Superior at Bemidji vs. Hermantown at Forest Lake vs. Duluth East at Proctor at Grand Rapids - if they beat everyone but Hermantown they have a shot at 2 but 3 for sure. If they beat their section opponents (except DEast) they should get 3
Elk River has a metro schedule left and will lose 3 of those. They play DEast and need to win. Odds are a 5 seed but 4 is not out of the question,
Duluth Marshall have two wins left on their schedule not enough to keep them ahead of GRapids.
GRapids has at Hill-Murray at Wayzata at Bemidji vs. C-E-C at Hermantown - They may not win another game the rest of the year. To move up they need to beat CEC and at least one other team. They have some young talent and the future looks good but it is tending to a one and done play-off.
St Franics - pretty much needs to win out (at least 7of their last 9) and with GRapids tough remaining schedule ahs a long-shot at catching GRapids.
Good news is they will play at home in the play-in game and will win that.
Cambridge will finish 9th and will lose the play-in game but next year should be better.

Forest Lake seems like a scoring juggernaut this year, and CEC will have their hands full at Forest Lake. At Grand Rapids.....well that just gives me nightmares! At Bemidji. Well they just shut out Greenway. At #3 ranked Superior, where we lost last years game. Hermantown is a flipping nightmare on skates! Duluth East is Duluth East 😳. CEC has no easy ride on this final stretch of the season.

Those are 1AA type numbers
Only if Dodge County was moved to 7AA

Average PageStat:

7AA--17.27
1AA--16.05

I would have to check and see when (if) was the last time 1AA didn't have the worst Class AA PageStat average.

So, no, not "type numbers". Closer than it's been but still no cigar. Compare 1AA to 4AA and you have a better "argument".

Lee
I missed stated my point.....1AA and 7AA are rarely this close. 1AA May have a team or two but overall I don’t think it has been this close in years if not decades.

I would agree with this from the perspective I can't remember 7AA ever being 6th in Class AA by virtue of average PageStat rating.
