MinnScout - I notice your Section 8 response was a non denial denial. Is a Saint moving to another Saint?

Financial hardship is not used much if at all to transfer. Families have to get another residence to be eligible. Divorced parents is easiest way to transfer and can be used one time. Majority of all transfers get eligible by getting another property.

Do not know if that is happening or not. Have you heard it is?

When two doctors claimed hardship to transfer son from Blake to Benilde, I knew all bets were off GB
GB -Special rules apply , as long as they stay in the West Metro 😁
Yes, when this happened I boycotted my collection basket contribution for three weeks and thought of changing from Catholicism to Church of Scientology! GB

This just isn't true. It obviously isn't the majority of transfer cases, but just involving west metro private schools, I can think of at least three cases in the last three years where financial hardship was used to transfer back to public... or at least is assumed to be used since none of the other factors were present. If I know of three that means there were probably more. Again, it's not like everybody's doing it, but it certainly happens more than "not much if at all."

If parents are divorced and live in separate school districts, a one time transfer can happen without sitting out.

Hear BSM got top player from out of state, 9th grader along with multiple other top 9th graders and couple transfers.

The problem with transfers and newcomers to a private school is they have a higher rate of leaving early (less loyalty to program, leaving for greener pastures becomes a habit, etc, etc). However, if BSM can keep most or all of their talent they will be in state tournament in next three years, which is saying something given their section—for now—includes Blake, CDH, and Edina. Oh yeah and Wayzata :)

With realignment those opponents could change some, but even if it does it will still be a tough road.

I guess the additional final incoming MSHSL transfer didn’t materialize, had heard KP was pushing hard in mid summer. Must be a mshsl limit of total new talent in one year😀?

Adam Marshall looked super in the BEL! Kid is always on the puck . A bright future indeed. I may have to get over to a BSM home game this year, I skipped last season

Cretin will go back to 3AA where they belong , give the Tommies some competition

Cretin was moved to 6AA starting with the 2015-16 season. Currently teams are going into year 4 of the 6 year MSHSL cycle. Although possible, it’s not likely CDH will be moved until the 2021-22 season.

The 2 year cycle of section realignment that happens in March of 2019 will be likely used for any new teams opting up (Hermantown 😲) enrollment changes, and petitions to move down.

CakeScout/MinnScout, Your assessment of BSM talent and team potential after watching their Edina game in person. As OTC pointed out in a different thread, they got overrun in the first, but held their own for the rest.

Predictions: How will BSM do with their brutal schedule. 9-16? 13-12? 15-10?

I'll leave that to 'KnightScout' if there is one? HA...
No, this is all for MINNSCOUT to lay out for you. Simply don't know enough about their talent o/a esp anybody in the bantam ranks coming up.
Although word is that within next 2 years it will be a vastly improved BSM squad. TBD.

From the game vs Edina last Thursday the typical names did stick out in Schweitzer and Messenburg. Good speed, deft stick-handling and in constant puck pursuit, both are juniors. I have an affinity to watch a lot of goalie play and always seem easily impressed when a goalie faces 40+ shots and only lets 3-4 in...so I was duly impressed w/ sophomore goalie Carson Limesand. 2 of the 5 goals scored on him were out of his control w/ some pinpoint weak-side passing...so a good overall showing. Keep an eye on #30 LImesand to be sure.

My .02 is that they are young (everyone knows that), but the kids who had no varsity experience prior to this season are getting some solid ice time, earning their stripes, and gaining confidence with each shift/game. Smart people have said that, no matter WHEN your first year of varsity happens (fresh/soph/jun/sen) it is a transition year. Ken Pauly and his staff are seeing that there is broad ice time/exposure happening across this team. There are some solid and contributing upperclassmen as well, so depth on this team will not be an issue.
As you say, WM, their schedule is fierce. Anything at/over 13 wins would be a solid reflection.

Deep water will continue to run through 6AA the next few years (Edina/Way/BSM/Blake/CDH/Etc) so it will be a battle for anyone coming out on top.

I think they are where most expected them to be early in the year with such a young team. They did play without 3 of their better players against Edina, got one back against GR but are still waiting for the other 2 to get healthy. Will get better as season goes but think they will win 15+ this year. I saw Edina game and they played 4 9th graders, 8 10th graders, and only 1 senior. Edina came out buzzing in the 1st and took 3-0 lead but after that it was even game with both teams scoring twice.

It will be interesting to watch them. Who are the other two players who are out?

I'm on your side on this minnscout, that BSM will be very good in next couple of years and even perhaps as this year chugs along. I think you're overselling some of the guys waiting in injured reserves though. #5 had 3g 7a last year as a junior, #17 had 1g 2a last year (though he was a freshman), and though #21 played on the always great U16 Blades this fall, he's unproven at varsity level. Overall showing some great signs for such a young team, and if they can keep them from leaving early, watch out.

Agree TMNHGUY (and MinnScout)--there's broad and deep talent here and combined with the coaching staff's willingness to develop them by giving them ice time, they are going to learn a lot throughout the year.
