USHL Players of the Week: Week 6

FORWARD: BOBBY BRINK - SIOUX CITY MUSKETEERS
3 GP: 4 goals, 3 assists, +2 rating
"Brink scored a goal and added an assist on Tuesday against Waterloo, dished out two more assists in the Musketeers' 4-1 victory over Fargo on Thursday and scored all three of his team's goals, his first USHL hat trick, in Sioux City's 3-2 win over the Omaha Lancers on Friday night. The University of Denver commit has been on fire as of late, sporting a four-game multi-point streak dating back to Oct. 27. In those four contests, Brink has recorded nine points (5G, 4A). He has earned at least one point in 11 of his 13 games this season and currently sits second among all USHL players in scoring with 22 points (8G, 14A) in 13 games, only behind teammate and Calgary Flames prospect Martin Pospisil. It has been a breakout season for the Minnetonka, MN native, his first full season in the USHL. Brink played in 13 games with Sioux City last season, tallying four points (2G, 2A) before playing eight Clark Cup Playoffs games with Team USA, where he recorded a pair of assists. He was listed on October's NHL Central Scouting Preliminary Players to Watch List ahead of the 2019 NHL Draft and was selected 16th overall by Sioux City in the 2017 USHL Phase I Draft. Before his time in the USHL, Brink previously played for Minnetonka High (USHS)."

"Bobby Brink is this weeks’ JuniorHockey.Com’s USHL Player of the Week. Brink is yet another Sioux City Musketeer making this distinction, joining teammates Martin Pospisil and Luke Johnson. Brink played in three games this week. Tuesday, he posted a goal and an assist against the Waterloo Black Hawks. On Friday, Brink earned two assists against Fargo by feeding both Marcus Kallionkieli and Pospisil. Finally Saturday happened, where Brink posted a hat trick in the Musketeers’ defeat of the Omaha Lancers. His three goals were the only goals scored in the contest. Bobby Brink (17) is from Excelsior, MN and grew up playing out of Minnetonka. His youth was spent playing with Minnetonka High and Team Southwest. Brink will be eligible for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and has committed to the University of Denver (beginning in 2020)."

Re: Bobby Brink named USHL Player of the Week
All indicators are that he is gone but there's still not been official confirmation either way. We'll find out soon.

Not directed at JD, since he is just quoting the article, but saying he grew up playing out of Minnetonka is rich. He grew up playing out of Chaska and played one year of bantams and two of high school at Minnetonka. I know he's not the only one where this gets confused. Like calling Jack Jensen an Eden Prairie kid.JerseyDave wrote: ↑Mon Nov 05, 2018 4:14 pm Bobby Brink (17) is from Excelsior, MN and grew up playing out of Minnetonka. To address JD's comment about no official confirmation, I believe it has been officially made from him to his teammate, friends, and coaches. Don't expect a press release, but if you want to wait until the season starts for it to be official I suppose that's the only way to be 100%!

Ghandi.
Leaves have fallen all around and the autumn moon lights his way - time to Ramble On!
Confirmed by multiple MTKA parents this past wknd at IIF tourney in NH.
(course it would be fun if he showed up - he's so fun to watch!)
So, locally, we turn to Gleason who is much the same style...and just as fun to watch.

Re: Bobby Brink named USHL Player of the Week
I listened to Coach Goldsworthy's preseason podcast today (linked on Tonka boy's hockey Twitter feed), and there was no mention of Brink at all. The only individual players mentioned were the three senior captains--Glockner, Docter, and Luedtke (pronounced Lid-key, BTW, not Loot-key or Ludd-key). Still no confirmation!ThatMNHockeyGuy62 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 05, 2018 5:30 pm ... if you want to wait until the season starts for it to be official I suppose that's the only way to be 100%!

Re: Bobby Brink named USHL Player of the Week
I listened to the podcast again and Jack Bayless is one of the senior captains. Glockner was mentioned in the podcast but not as a captain. The podcast link is below:JerseyDave wrote: ↑Tue Nov 06, 2018 10:10 am The only individual players mentioned were the three senior captains--Glockner, Docter, and Luedtke
