I’m sure this was quite the battle for spots on the back half of the roster given the numbers in the system. Still plenty of underclassmen, but not nearly as young as last year.

6 Henry Eischen F 5'10 11
8 Triston Tabucol F 5'11 10

11 Nick Pierre F 5'8 9
12 Jared Jensen F 5'10 10
14 Matthew Fleischhacker D 5'5 10
15 Joe Palodichuk D 5'11 10
17 Sam Karr F 6'1 12
18 Ryan Petersen D 6'4 12
19 Brett Oberle D 6'0 11
20 Seamus O'Regan D 5'11 11

I don't know how much stock I'd place in the validity of that roster, considering no fresh or sophs are listed. I'd venture a guess that it's incomplete.

But Karl should know more as he's closer to the situation.

Ha or maybe he’s not on varsity yet? And has to earn it?

According to this roster, he’s on JV. If true, must be nice to have an elite league player stashed on JV for now.

R-E-L-A-X. Playoff rosters are not set in November, especially with this coaching staff. The varsity roster as listed pretty clearly respects seniority. Jeanette will get his chances to earn his keep.

That’s too bad. I also got very late intel that Bell wasn’t coming back. I thought he looked very serviceable as backup last year and was anxious to see how that would have carried over as a starter. Could have put the goaltending questions for Edina to bed.

Edina roster and G situation:

I'm going to have to nagivate this delicately.
More will be revealed as time marches on...esp around the rinks this coming wknd.
Let's just say, this is NOT the final Edina roster. You'll see 2-3 players go up and down esp between now & Xmas. Totally normal, most teams do it.
After the Holiday tourney at Dakotah the roster will lock in (minus an injury and/or severe slump by a player - again, totally normal).

This 'pre-season roster' is also somewhat shaped by an unfortunate incident that impacts this weekends' Turkey Trot games. Let's just say the roster will be thinned by 2-3 players. Who, specifically? 2nd and 3rd liners. Not at liberty to say why/what but full Edina roster will not 'truly' be showcased until 11/29 vs. BSM then, as aforementioned, 'locked-in' post Dakotah tourney.

That said, one tidbit flying under the rafters at NHIA this Fall was the talent & work ethic of 'mystery incoming Edina goalie' had led certain player(s) to question their future on the team/love of the game after a very average showing last season that included not completely having one's head in the game, not once, but twice. The writing was on the wall...some kids w/ average talent have to work extra hard, some have more God-given talent and dont work hard, a select few do both and want more - those afraid to compete w/ the latter simply fade away. Some realize their path is in a different sport - nothing wrong w/ that. Much as Giles loves senior goalies he just might be starting a sophomore G sooner than later. Really? Giles? C'mon! Yep.

I have seen clips on youtube (yes, they're edited and he's not facing 18 yr olds) but I have seen 'The Secret' in person as well.
Yes, I've seen 'The Secret' from Mystery, Alaska? (j/k). I think Edina may have found a goalie. It's been rumored he's from Alaska, then it was North Carolina, etc. inclusive of stops w/ the Colorado TBirds??? Others who know more can clear that up but my scout sheets list Edina, MN as 'place of birth' so, for now I'll take that and let's start there.

It's going to be FUN to watch him develop as The Secret is only a SOPHOMORE!
Coming out of the net, cutting angles, the anchoring, the lateral quickness, the glove all guided by keen vision is, at first glance? Most impressive.
Ok, I'm admittedly choking on cake now so I'll stop. Heck, goalies are quirky and it takes time to adjust to varsity level, but he's definitely got 'IT'.

The Secret's first name is 'Louden' and it will no longer simply be an obscure reference to Matthew Modine's character in 'Vision Quest' (circa, '85).
(Although for any home games Louden starts Braemar staff should play 'Lunatic Fringe' by Red Rider! Just sayin'...)

Ok, Westy, total shot in the dark but I'd put $5.00 on table this is Edina lineup sheet based on roster released 11/15/18 by JJ#22...w/ 'center' position listed in middle.

1) Never / Jungels / Malmquist
2) Colby / Cavanagh / Morton
3) Chorske / Shoemaker / Borst
4) Delaney / Ruegemer / Klemmensen

D1) Vorlicky / Boltmann
D2) Reiners / Bishop
D3) Johnson / Williams

G1) Louden Hogg
G2) Jack Wolfe

I'm unclear as to why you are playing off this "mystery" and categorizing him as a "secret" when he's got an Elite Prospects page https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/4 ... ouden-hogg (like everybody) and played half of the games for the Lakers in the Tier I league run by Minnesota Hockey.

Edina won a state championship in 1988 with the LAST goalie they tried over a two-year period desperately looking for someone that could do well at Varsity level. The coach at the time was one of the most legendary goalies in Minnesota high school and NCAA history, for whatever that's worth.

No doubt Edina's looking pretty solid with top-end scorers and along the blue line. Questions remain about forward depth and in goal. We'll see how it goes and if The Secret (as you capitalize it) gets to play none, some, or all the time. Wishing him and the roughly 3,000 other kids that play Minnesota Varsity well this season.
Be kind. Rewind.

Wonder if either of these kids have a father that graduated from Tonka but iirc neither played varsity. Last name recognition and curiosity only is why I ask.
