I was looking forward to Saturday’s Eden Prairie/Edina tilt for a while, but no Jensen is a major buzzkill.

Re: Eden Prairie …
Game sheet shows an ejection. Chatter when I arrived for the late contest was his check was on target but a little high and they threw the book at him.

Re: Eden Prairie …
Just watched the play in the video archives at MNHockey.TV
Tough break for Jensen. He delivered a check on someone as the pass was released, made an extra effort to skate around so as not to deliver a check from the back or side, and crouched to deliver it to the upper torso. The only other thing he could have done is not gone in for the check, which would have seemed weird because he was right there hoping to win the puck.
He rocked him, no doubt. 5 & a Game? IMO a result of the receiver getting dusted and the officials' desire to protect the safety of the game. Sometimes the punishment doesn't match the crime, and in this case it is even questionable if a 'crime' (penalty) occurred.
Hoping the Thunderhawk players is fine. Clearly wasn't prepared for the hit.

Re: Eden Prairie …
Why won’t jensen be playing tonite?
Re: Eden Prairie …
Evidently he took a major penalty yesterday for head contact & was DQed, so one game suspension
Re: Eden Prairie …
Too bad . Sound like his size advantage cost him on this one .
Ironic in that last year at this Trny he was on receiving end of a tough hit from DK I think, which resulted in some retaliation later and DK was out fir a month . CakeScout might remember all the details with his excellent recall

Re: Eden Prairie …
So last night I walked into Braemer and nodded a polite 'hello' to Jensen Sr. and as I turned to my right JJ walks by and barks out to Sr., "Yep - I'm OUT"!
Didn't think anything of it proceeding into arena until 5 min later all the talk was re: Jensen being out for Saturday. 5 min major and a game for 'targeting' - but all opinions were that it was NOT targeting and was definetly front, upper shoulder area, but in real time maybe looked worse?
But yes, JJ is out for tonight. Although it takes away from the matchup of playing against your rival (and childhood Edina buddies) there is plenty still there for Edina to deal with. Some young talent at EP will look to make up the difference and will come ready to play (Holt, Batchelder, Mittlestadts).
Not sure what the fascination w/ Jensens' perceived size is...this came up couple weeks ago on the forum. He is NOT 6'3", nor is he 6'2"...tape from barefoot to top of dome and I would put $1,000 on him at 72 1/2", maybe w/ a tuft of hair sticking up a legit 73" - that's it. 6'1" (tops) and 185 (at most). Decent size sure, but nothing to get weak in the knees about.
From my recall, last year to the day by the way - was a retaliatory hit on DK from JJ. But only AFTER DK planted an EP player...and JJ did give DK a wicked hit and THAT was 'targeting' to be sure. Brinkman had to practically carry DK off the ice he was so wobbled. JJ was given a 5 min penalty but no suspension (that I recall). DK was NOT out for a month though. He sat out the one game at Cretin and played in Schwans Cup versus Mtka albeit visibly off his game and probably should have cleared the cobwebs out and skipped the entire Schwans Cup. DK was not the same for about 2 weeks over the '17 Holidays and it was noticeable. However, right back at it and only missed one other game, regrettable and horrific timing as some academic issue (late assignments was the 'word') prevented him from suiting up for Tonka tilt #3 at Pagel. A game Edina surely could have used DK (this was same game Vorlicky missed due to 'falling in parking lot and banging head on car door' deal). No Vorlicky or DK huge blow for that game. Having just had their revenge pasting Tonka 8-2 at Braemar just a few weeks prior - it would have been a classic at Pagel to see full roster go but those are the breaks. Some could argue DK missed a 3rd game last year. DE in the state semi's. He was a non-factor. Dissapeared. Don't get me wrong - I was a fan of DK and thought he added a dynamic forward element to Edina - he was so fun to watch and was thrilled he rejoined his teammates and friends for his senior year - the lingering effects of a concussion is no joke, nothing to mess with - granted but I surmise DK saw DE rattle Jungels and Sammy early on and had some nasty flashbacks to earlier in the season and went on countless times avoiding contact situations in that DE game. Some battles he would have dived into the fray on but backed off quite a bit in DE game. The psyche is tough hurdle, esp after being injured in any sport and DE, w/ size and grit they had last year? Will make you think twice about a lot of things, no doubt.
Tonights EP/Edina game will still be worth a watch and go if you can! It only lacks in that us rubes can't truly judge this matchup till Lake play begins and #18 suits for EP. Edina better be ready...cuz EP maybe as some new motivation tonight?

Re: Eden Prairie …
Holt, Batchelder, and the Middlestats not enough against a solid Edina squad. These EP young guns gained valuable experience and displayed their great potential. I just hope they stick around and resist the lure of Ann Arbor. Coach Smith can develop these players much like he did for Casey. Go Eagles!

Re: Eden Prairie …
Huh? The lure of Ann Arbor I will assume means the NTDP now in Plymouth. Holt is an '02, right? Maybe the younger Mittelstadt is a 2003, and Batchelder? Is what you are implying that two of these kids are candidates or likely to go?
I'll give you an Eden Prairie 2003 that played well enough today to merit consideration.
Jackson Blake.

Re: Eden Prairie …
Well said Gator! Those 3 Sophs are exciting , (best soph trio in the state?)
Had JJ been there and if Bullis was in goal for whole game, might have been a 1 or 2 goal margin.
But credit to Hornets tonight . They were buzzing
Lake conference is going to be tough and with more parity than most might be thinking . I could conceivably see any or all of the big 4 splitting with one another . However edge to Tonka for goaltending in a tight game I suppose

O Town. I did not mean to disrespect Jackson Blake’s performance today vs Gentry Academy.
That Blake kid can play and I was a huge fan of his dad in a Sioux uniform. Maybe Jackson will join the 3 Super Sophs from EP again the future.
I am hoping for an EP reunion party and not one in Plymouth, MI. Good luck to all the young men.

Almost any other section and they would be the favorites.
Against Minnetonka it looks slim.

EP has also been without their second leading goal scorer from last season all year due to an ankle fracture. Having Jones and Jensen not in the line up takes out a lot of EP's physical game and scoring power.

Yes, but it will be 2019 and not in time for the Christmas tournament in Prior Lake. IIRC

Does anyone know why Blake left Shattuck to come back to EPHS to play bantams?

And still no talk of the elephant in the room. Not even on an anonymous chat bored. SMH

Didn’t want his kid coaches by Lee Smith. He tried it and his kid was homesick and wanted to play with with friends back in Eden prairie.
