"3.75 2003 D Jake Martin to Miami. Offensive minded D who can pass or carry the puck up ice. Excellent vision. Defensive game has shown consistent improvement as he has the body and feet to defend at a high level. Great mobility at 6' w/ a high ceiling."

DOB 3/18/03 - Wouldn't he be a sophomore?

And not to be picky but seems like the Midget AAA board would be more appropriate, this is not a Minnesota High School Hockey team or player.

A bunch of them stayed back in school. He must be another that did.

I'm not sure what class he is in so I took out the word "frosh" in the subject line. As he is a Minnesota kid committing to a D1 program, I thought it was relevant to this board.

The thing making Gentry so interesting is they have a school, they have a Varsity (MSHSL), and they have the players in the school. While they are playing a national Midget schedule this year, next...?

Two different teams. If you look at the MSHSL roster and the 15U Tier 1 roster, different kids. Martin is on the 15U team, not the MSHSL team.

I think maybe I misunderstood what you were getting at. My guess is since they founded the school on a Tier 1 program that will continue to be their priority. So these 15U's will be 16U's next year, with possibly a little shuffling but the main core group staying together. The MSHSL team will be there as an option for those that don't make the Tier 1 rosters or maybe don't want the expense of Tier 1 hockey, or if they have an age class that doesn't have the depth/numbers to support a Tier 1 team. All just assumption on my part, what will really interest me is if they will be able to support both programs over the long haul.

My guess is they'll support the program until Chaz and Cruz graduate then consolidate.

Blueline, they have a Varsity. Strong players are in the school. A lot of speculation as to what they'll do next season, but I haven't heard anything conclusive.

The team is VERY VERY good and will continue to win games no matter what level.

With a record of 3-5 I don't know that I would say their Varsity team is VERY VERY GOOD.
