Totino score a surprise. Although reports are Maht played well but were beat by the Totino goalie.
I keep checking and it seem that whenever I look the goalie is apart of the team.
The two notable scores from last night that were a bit deceiving were the TG and Orono wins. Mahtomedi was definitely the better team through two periods, but either missed scoring chances or were stoned by Howe. The Eagles looked like a different team in the third and came out flying (pardon the pun) to put the game away. TG also stayed out of the box, which really hurt them in the second period. TG has some snipers, and they buried nearly every good look they had.

Orono and Delano were tied 3-3 after two before the Spartans poured in four goals in the third. That seems to be a theme for Orono lately, as they let Waconia hang around for two periods before making a run, and also needed a third period comeback to force overtime against Mound. It’s been working for the most part, but I’m sure their coaches would appreciate some faster starts. It also could be a reflection of their depth, though.

I thought the TG/Mahtomedi game was even in the 1st, shots were even. In the 2nd, Mahtomedi controlled it with the help of TG taking penalties (5 on 3 followed by a 5 on 4 right after). 3rd period was all TG. The big difference was TG goalie. He was very solid. The possible section rematch should be good.
That’s a fair take. I missed the early part of the 1st and was also stupidly trying to keep an eye on Breck-Blake, so I will trust your judgment. The 2nd was kind of a mess with penalties and chippy play, and TG certainly didn’t help their own cause. I didn’t mean to make it sound like the win was a fluke, just that Mahtomedi played pretty well. I definitely came away impressed with TG.

I think Jon Howe turned back about 40 Zeph shots, giving up 1 . He was 93% going in, so his numbers will Improve from there . He is one of the Tonka goalie products discussed on a different thread

I kind of suspect RL will beat FF tonight. What do you think that means for section 6A seedings? They split during the year and played everyone else similar.

Wow, that could create a mess with River Lakes, Fergus Falls and Prairie Centre all trying to avoid playing that play in game. Plus, ending up the five seed would mean you would avoid Alex, Sartell and Cathedral until a possible semifinal matchup.

That coaches meeting could be interesting trying to break down those two, RL and FF, or three if Prairie Centre can take care of business the rest of the year.

4. Little Falls
5 - 7. ?
No. 33 Prairie Centre Area (49.0) 4-3-0 10-7-0 4.3 3.3 Won 2
No. 50 Fergus Falls (38.0) 2-4-0 6-10-2 3.6 4.8 Lost 1
No. 54 River Lakes (36.0) 4-7-0 8-11-0 3.7 3.2 Lost 2

8-9. Morris/Benson Area (26.7) 0-4-0 5-10-0 2.6 4.8 Lost 2 or No. 71 Wadena-Deer Creek (25.5) 3-4-0 6-9-1 3.2 4.0 Lost 1

10. Breckenridge/Wahpeton

For coaches vote Prairie Center is out - they get #7.
As of this afternoon its Fergus Falls since they have the win. They win again it would be hard not to give them the 5 seed.
If they lose River Lakes has the upper hand in that they won the most recent game, they played everyone in the section and results against section opponents are better. Things the voters will know or easily look up.
So if mite-dad is right....

River Lakes 4, Fergus Falls 3. Fergus beat River Lakes 5-3 earlier in the year. Cloudy waters to say the least.......

You never know what may happen in those smoke filled back rooms at seeding time!

It will come down to common opponents to determine the 5-6 between FF and RL. Both have similar schedules.

vs. Sauk Rapids: River Lakes W5-3, Fergus Falls L3-2 & W5-4. River Lakes plays SR on 1/4.

vs. Willmar: River Lakes W2-0, Fergus Falls T4-4 and play again tonight. RL Plays Willmar again on 1/31

vs. Detroit Lakes: River Lakes plays DL on 2/2, Fergus Falls L4-1 and T1-1.

vs. Little Falls: River Lakes L1-0, Fergus L6-3, play again on 2/5

vs. Hutch: River Lakes plays Hutch on 2/12, Fergus L7-6 in OT

IMO River Lakes will get the 5 seed unless Fergus can upset LF, Alex, or Sartell. RL can solidify their argument if they can beat DL, Sauk, and Hutch.

Either way it will be an interesting coaches vote!

Thanks for posting that. I would agree that right now, River Lakes has a pretty good grasp on that five seed. I think Fergus will need more than one upset of LF, Alex and Sartell.

Alexandria and Sartell is tightening up as well, at least in the QRF, after Alex took care of Bemidji last night. The two do have a game left later this year, Sartell won the first one 1-0.
