Class A Rankings 1-20-19

With not a lot of games played between ranked teams there hasn't been much movement lately. Last week we had a couple losses, but nothing too drastic. There are handful of games this week that could either solidify how things are or make next week more interesting.
Two big section match-ups in 4A and 8A this week.

1. [1] Hermantown (12-3-1) (4-0)
Couple section games this week.
This week: Tues @ Hibbing, Thurs @ Proctor

2. [2] Cathedral (16-1) (16-1)
The Crusaders had two shut outs last week. They play their first AA opponent this week in Moorhead.
This week: Tues vs Little Falls, Sat @ Moorhead

3. [3] Mahtomedi (13-2-1) (7-0)
The Zephyrs play the only section team who could possibly challenge them this season.
This week: Tues vs Totino-Grace, Wed vs Simley

4. [4] East Grand Forks (13-4) (9-1)
The Green Wave lost to Roseau in OT. Winning in Thief River Falls would all but lock up the top spot in the section.
This week: Tues @ Thief River Falls, Fri @ Lake of the Woods

5. [6] Thief River Falls (11-4-2) (10-1-1)
The Prowlers picked up their 10th Class A win last week in Warroad. They still only have one Class A loss, which was in OT to Cathedral. Beating EGF this week would elevate them to one of the top 4 teams.
This week: Tues vs East Grand Forks, Fri vs Duluth Denfeld

6. [5] Orono (10-6) (9-3)
The Spartans lost a close one to Mound Westonka. They should still be the frontrunner in the section; they play the first of two against Delano
This week: Tues @ Delano, Thurs @ Holy Family

7. [7] Totino-Grace (12-5) (1-2)
The Eagles picked up a 3 goal loss to a team they’d previously had a 3 goal win over. They have 2 remaining Class A games, both road games, and the game this week in Mahtomedi will be the difference between being the top seed and being a toss-up in the section.
This week: Tues @ Mahtomedi, Thurs vs Osseo

8. [8] Monticello (12-5-1) (7-2-1)
The Magic had a close loss followed by 2 shut out wins.
This week: Tues vs Rogers, Thurs @ Little Falls

9. [13] Warroad (9-6) (7-4)
The Warriors look like the 3 seed in 8A after losing to TRF. Can they beat Denfeld and move up a couple spots? They are looking better as their only Class A losses are to Cathedral, TRF and EGF.
This week: Tues vs Park Rapids, Fri vs Hibbing, Sat vs Denfeld

10. [9] Sartell (12-4) (8-3)
The Sabres were recently shut out by Brainerd at home; can they do better on the road?
This week: Tues @ Brainerd, Thurs @ Minneapolis, Sat vs Sauk Rapids-Rice

11. [10] Duluth Denfeld (9-6-1) (7-2-1)
The Hunters play two big road games this week.
This week: Fri @ Thief River Falls, Sat @ Warroad

12. [11] Greenway (6-13) (4-6)
The Raiders were shut out twice last week and now can’t make it up to .500 during the regular season. They do, however, play 5 section games in a row that they are favored in.
This week: Tues vs International Falls, Thurs vs Virginia

13. [12] Alexandria (12-4) (9-4)
The Cardinals play their next 5 games at home; can they hold off Bemidji?
This week: Tues vs River Lakes, Fri vs Bemidji

14. [14] Mankato East (9-6-1) (7-4)
The Cougars were idle last week with a postponed game, they have one section opponent this week.
This week: Thurs vs Faribault, Sat @ Rochester John Marshall

15. [15] Northfield (10-4) (8-2)
The Raiders are now on a 9 game winning streak; to make it 10 they have to win on a road against a team they’ve previously lost to.
This week: Thurs @ Rochester Mayo
