Last announced shots were 22-12 Mahtomedi, and the Zephyrs have carried play by far. Howe has been a beast in net for TG, and they have converted on their few scoring chances. Eagles need to stay out of the box; way too many penalties that period.

Stray scores not mentioned so far that jumped out at me:

Centennial 3, Chaska 2, final...looks like the Hawks are back at their Jekyll and Hyde act, though I'm not surprised that the usually very disciplined Cougars posed a challenge for their free-wheeling style.

STA 4, Jefferson 2, final (EN) with fairly even shots...Jags looking more and more real in 3AA.

Grand Rapids 3, Duluth Marshall 2 (OT)...probably harder than it should've been, but a necessary win for GR in the battle for 7AA positioning.

The Duluth-Marshall goalie deserved the win tonight - he was outstanding.

However, the GR team deserved it more. The team played with energy all the way through. They had plenty of open looks at the net, but just could not connect. The T-hawks were winning most of the battles on the boards, outshot Marshall something like 43-27, and kept the puck in the Marshall zone most of the time.

Not a signature-win by any stretch, but should help sort out section seeds; it also serves as a character-win for a young team.

Yeah, TRF outplayed EGF second and third period. Good game. EGF did a lot of standing around, especially in the slot, which gave TRF two goals. They also made a lot of bad decisions with the puck throughout the night.
Their defensemen had an off night and the goalie played afraid of the puck on numerous shots. Wasn't for the TRF major, TRF had the game in hand it looked like.
Should be another good game at the Civic.

I agree with moat of your assessment, but EGF controlled all aspects of 3rd period. TRF outplayed EGF 1st & 2nd period. Until the 3rd period started, EGF played like they just got off the bus after a 18 hour bus ride....a totally different team came out in the 3rd period. A bad checking-from-behind penalty late in the 3rd on TRF and the Wave convert about 15 seconds in to tie the game. Got a fortunate bounce on the OT winner to beat a very solid goalie. TRF must have blocked or redirected 25+ shot attempts as well. Was impressed with TRF defensive game but EGF depth is impressive. Will be a fun section tournament with potential for 3 different teams to make it to to win Section 8A. EGF definitely the favorite in my opinion, but wont be easy to get past TRF or Warroad.

All very true, especially EGF's start of the third. By outplayed, more of an out hustled overall but EGF did come out buzzing at the start of the third. Skill wise, two close teams. Play ten games, probably each win half.
Penalty hurt TRF, but it was a good call. They should have been called for another shortly after that one. Glad the kid was ok.
