EP as a three seed is laughable and WBL got hosed.

Stack all the northern/private schools on the side of the bracket with the Hornets and all the big metro suburban schools on the other half?

This whole thing stinks.

Compared to final LPH rankings :

EP leapfrogs WBL and STA, then draws weakest unranked team in the first round. This after barely surviving unranked HF at Mariucci

Deast leapfrogs MH and WBL , but then draws same STA pairing but in evening bracket instead of afternoon. Destroys the chance for an all northern final . Destroys chance fir a Deast Edina final

Seems like Bears were most disrespected , specially after taking care of biz on Pio home ice

Who can figure it? Specially after 5 straight years of following LPH all the way thru 1-8 seeds
Love the Moorhead-Edina match-up & the potential for a Spud-Hounds semifinal. Go North!!

Wow EP was a 3 seed in section 2AA and then a 3 seed at state. When’s the last time something like that happened?
Two seasons ago, Grand Rapids was a 4 seed in the sections and then got a 5 seed at state. And went on to win it all of course.
The big difference though is if I recall correctly (which can someone confirm my upcoming statement) Grand Rapids that year was in a close argument with the 3 seed ( was it Cloquet?) and got the "shaft" if you will by landing the 4 seed in the section. Even at the 4 seed they were thought to be dangerous because of the very high skill level their top line and they had been considered state worthy that year. Which they ended up showing by beating section number 1 ranked Elk River (who was in their own right a power that year) and then section number 2 DE who was also very good that year in the section final, which is always a heavy task. (Am I correct in my memory?) EP had one goliath to overcome in their section....which HF handled for them.

I agree that EP’s 3 seed is high. Even doing the regular season, I thought their state ranking was a tad high. The talent was there, but just never lived up to expectations on paper for whatever reason. Maybe it was Jensen trying to be the whole team.

Before the seeds were released, I was thinking the #5 seed would go to EP with WBL being #4. I would have placed STA at #3.

No question it should make for an interesting tournament though and have a captive audience.

PageStat had 1-5 the same as the seedings. But it would have had South vs Edina, WBL vs Blaine (correct) and Moorhead vs Eden Prairie. It also had East vs STA correctly.

Well I guess the bottom 3 seeds are random with Eden Prairie drawing South. That STA V EAST night cap will be a good one, though I think we will see STA go back to defending their consolation title. All in all these matchups are going to be fun to see with nobody looking like their opener is going to be a cake walk by any stretch of the imagination.

Glad I didn’t put money on the first round matchup being Edina vs. LkvS.

He's right in that PageStat has Eden Prairie higher. He posted a screen shot of the rankings prior to the state of the Section Tournaments which (then) had STA higher at that time.

I liked the idea of ranking the top 5 but it looks like a mess now. No way EP should have the 3. They have 9 losses. STA has 4. I root against private schools but this just makes no sense. Same with East getting the 5. WBL got screwed too.

Just looking at EP sitting there at number three with 9 losses and playing Lakeville South right away just doesn’t fit with what’s happened all year.

Exactly. EP probably had one of the toughest schedules all year. The only luck I see is that they drew LS and East was seeded 5. WBL and Moorhead get the shaft here.

Congrats Lee, BTW, on having PageStat nail the seedings 1-5. Since the unseeded three teams are a random draw, supposedly, it’s hard to fault PageStat for that.

I wonder how many times a team has outshot a team 17-0 from the opening puck drop during the regular season. And then ended up getting seeded behind them in the state tourney.

Moose Lake could lose to Edina 3 times in a season (Eagles lost by a combined 18-5 scoreline btw) - color me unimpressed.

5-7 loss to Stillwater? 3-5 to Hermantown? I'm not saying the Lake Conference isn't a tough league, but to go from a 3 seed in your section to a 3 seed at state (without having to beat Minnetonka) is questionable at best.

Maybe...but Blaine (based on how they’ve played since Jan 1st) got a more favorable draw than Edina. Blaine did lose in a fire wagon game to EP around New Years, but Blaine has taken their game to a different level since then. If they get by STA mm...the refs aren’t gonna let DE play WWE style against EDINA (and not spend a fair amount of time in the sin bin) 😉 But ya can’t ever count out the mad scientist & the Hounds☝️

Blasphemy!!!!!!!!!!!

Does Prior Lake get seeded #3 if they win that section? Hell NO. What a joke.

Nuts and bolts, nuts and bolts. Both WBL and STA got screwed.
