Andover lacks a high caliber goaltender that they’ve had for 3 previous seasons

That’s true if everyone stays the elks would be way better then last year 3-5 is up for grabs this is probably cloquet’s last shot, Rapids I think is still a year away but should be good enough to beat anyone if you take them lightly.MWS coach wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2019 11:05 amElks way to low on this list if nobody leaves. This group as Bantams won the Blue Ox, collected a trophy in every tournament and were eliminated in regions by losing to Prior Lake (the eventual state champ) twice, once in OT and one by a goal. Have a potential Mr. Hockey candidate whom has already scored over 100 points. Several players on 18-19 teams missed a lot of time due to injuries/health issues. One of them was the top D on aforementioned bantam team and two top 6 F's. Beat both GR and Cloquet on more then one occasion and even took down the hounds (yep understood bantams move up early, so not much stock in beating east in bantams). Jr class has a few players that saw significant ice time and contributed. A couple of incoming Soph. that will help with depth. Still won't match Andover depth and skill, but will compete with those you have ahead of them.Edinahopkins wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2019 8:10 am1. Andover by a mile
2. Duluth East
3/4 Grand Rapids or cloquet assuming nobody leaves early if jack Peart leaves then drop Rapids to the 5/6 seed
5. Elk river if nobody leaves early
6. Duluth Marshall
7. Forest lake
Now the reality, all players not likely to return. 5 could be high depending on how many and whom departs.
Sorry, my bad. Yes WBL was state champ. I was thinking when they were PW's. To many kids and seasons run together!Section 8 guy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 1:27 amAgree with MWS on Elk River.....if no one leaves of course. Although I believe White Bear won state in Bantams, not Prior Lake.
While may not be as good, they have two quality options, a Sr and a Jr. I wouldn't judge Sr by one period at HDM coming off the bench after sitting two periods in the freezing cold. He is very good. Jr may be even better. Both are quality options. It will be interesting to watch if one wins the job, or if they split time.muckandgrinder65 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2019 5:30 pmAndover lacks a high caliber goaltender that they’ve had for 3 previous seasons
Is Jr goalie the transfer from TG?MWS coach wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 8:30 amWhile may not be as good, they have two quality options, a Sr and a Jr. I wouldn't judge Sr by one period at HDM coming off the bench after sitting two periods in the freezing cold. Will be great to see the section very competitive once again as opposed to the 'dumpster fire' it was in 2019.StanleyCup55 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 8:04 amI’m not too familiar with YHH but seems their rankings are quite flawed. How could Andover possibly be ranked #3 if they didn’t make it to state?
2016-17 Let’s Play Hockey Bantam AA Final Top 20 Rankings
1 White Bear Lake
2 Osseo-Maple Grove
3 Stillwater
4 Blaine
5 Moorhead
6 Lakeville South
7 Cloquet
8 Eden Prairie
9 Minnetonka
10 Andover
11 St. Cloud
12 Edina
13 Centennial
14 South St. Paul
15 Wayzata
16 Minneapolis
17 Eastview
18 Elk River
19 Rosemount
20 Rochester
WBL beat OMG in the state championship
Stillwater beat Blaine for third
Moorhead took consolation over Lakeville South
Cloquet and EP were eliminated after 2 games
When these kids were second year Pee Wees at state...
Prior Lake beat Minneapolis in the championship
Chaska beat St. Cloud for third place
Cloquet beat Rosemount for consolation
Bloomington Jefferson and Duluth East were bounced
Andover will be very good but nothing like last year. Duluth East will be very good as will Rapids, Cloquet and Elk River. The gap between 1-5 is very small and any of these 5 teams has a real chance to win the section next year.
I predict...
1 Duluth East
2 Andover
3 Cloquet
4 Elk River
5 Grand Rapids
It will be an East-Cloquet final and I think Cloquet pulls it off this year.
Just like last year, Andover has the best team (on paper). But as someone with strong NW Metro connections, unlike in 2019 when I truely thought Andover would break threw and represent 7AA at State, now I have significant doubts...not just based on their returning players, but also their HC.northwoods oldtimer wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 12:03 pmWill be great to see the section very competitive once again as opposed to the 'dumpster fire' it was in 2019.StanleyCup55 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 8:04 amI’m not too familiar with YHH but seems their rankings are quite flawed. 7AA banter at its best when the section is 5-7 teams deep!

It's interesting pandover needs to recruit to think they have a shot at Duluth East, which means East is already in their heads (see Elk River). This is great!! Andovarians having doubts in the HC?MWS coach wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 3:37 pmFamily moved so not really a transfer, but yes.bardown27 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 11:15 amIs Jr goalie the transfer from TG?MWS coach wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 8:30 am

Well. Who put a boner in your cereal this morning . Calm down Hulio. I lived and worked in the twin cities for 10 years. We’re you live is irreverent to where you work. Parents have no ties to the communities down there what so ever. A program needs a goalie the parents are told. They move without breaking a sweat. First I didn't even have cereal this morning and my name isn't Hulio! Lolkniven wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 7:42 pmWell. Who put a boner in your cereal this morning . Calm down Hulio. Might be one of the most ignorant, insulting blanket statements I've read here.kniven wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 7:42 pmWell. Who put a boner in your cereal this morning . Calm down Hulio. I did notice for this year that LPH didn’t have Moorhead ranked in their top 20 prior to regions. After regions they had them ranked 17th and after state they were 6th. They did beat Lakeville South and finished 6th at state but weren’t even in the top 20 a few weeks ago. Thanks for the clarification.Section 8 guy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 7:17 pmStanley, the YHH rankings are based on results over the entire season so it would be arguable they are a better picture than the top of the LPH rankings which are based entirely on state tourney results. Although much of the top 10 is similar between the two.
Next years Bantam group for Andover was indisputably stronger than last years group........even without Fritsinger. The core of their talent will now be Seniors instead of Juniors.
I think Duluth East is being viewed as being much stronger than their talent level but each to their own. The players moved up from Bantams storyline doesn’t work with this group since Logan Anderson was the only opt up in this class. Time will tell as always.
The orange had lots of sophomores in the lineup this past season and have a very nice group coming in from the bantam team.kniven wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2019 3:45 pmSo Jack Peart is the best on Grand Rapids roster last year and this year? Peart and Clafton will be a very nice combination. What’s their forwards situation. And Duluth East...somebody in hound nation give me a snapshot of next year. There were a couple of Lockerts in their youth program who were very good. Are they coming to high school puck next year? Langenbrunner Is pretty awesome and goalie Carlson was AA all through youth and quite good. He grew a foot over the last couple years. Not sure if that changes things or not. Senich is a nice Goalie as well. I’m not worried about goalie. For me, it’s the synergy between Head Coach and the boys. I think a second year together is going to be huge. And it will be interesting to see their schedule for next year.
I sure hope you are right, would be fun to see a lively barn again.norcon wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2019 7:02 pmThe orange had lots of sophomores in the lineup this past season and have a very nice group coming in from the bantam team.kniven wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2019 3:45 pmSo Jack Peart is the best on Grand Rapids roster last year and this year? Should be very competitive the next few years. Looking forward to some big crowds returning to the barn!
