Lets hope the latest surge carries into an exciting 7AA 3 team race at the very least. Unfortunately Cloquet is self destructing once again. Could have made for a formidable semi Saturday with 3 teams peaking as challengers to Andover. Knivsy whats in the drinking water at CEC?

Grand Rapids and Duluth East hitting full stride as the playoffs approach. Cloquet needs to figure things out fast. They can do it. Either way, they will probably be heading to Duluth for a quarterfinal match with the Greyhounds.
Yep, anyone who penciled Andover to state needs to take a deep breath. Rapids/East/Cloquet could take them out. The Huskies get upset over the bus ride..,
As much as you DE fans like to flower your nuts with hope...MG is a toothless tiger without Kyle K. (and 3 other players at NTDP). Nice to beat MG, but not huge accomplishment by a team that got smoked by a relatively bad ER team a week ago. It’s 85% that Andover advances threw 7AA, that’s not 100%, GR is the only team that may knock them out, if DE plays them, it will be on Saturday. a non school day, where driving 2.5 hours is less of a big deal and a lot of Andover’s fans will be in attendance for a weekend game. Additionally, Andover pummeled MG twice this season, the 1st time with KK playing til the final minutes. ☝️

That’s a good question, NorthW. Since I’ve been around, it seems people get greedy when we’ve got lots of talent coming through. It happened in 2012-2013 and 2016-2017. The storyline was always the current coaching staff can’t handle all the talent so let’s change it up. That’s my interpretation anyway. The kids haven’t had real stability at the top in years (high school). Currently, boys youth hockey and girls youth and high school are in great shape, though. Boys high school hockey is very complicated.

A win is a win, my boy. If that were the state championship game, the Hounds would be state champs 👍

Excuse me I am a Rapids fan, if you don’t think GR is a threat you’re going to be sitting at home come March as usual, I think the team that has more state championships then you have state tournament appearances should not be taken light choke city.

What? I have no clue what cloud you are riding on right now. I am a Rapids and East backer, but a huge Cloquet guy. If we don’t win, which we rarely do, I cheer for my 218 brothers. We don’t choke, because we never get there.

I’m not so sure about that. I heard Coach Manney is looking into setting up some quiet rooms for the kids before the bus ride. Just to try to reduce some of the trauma that comes with that coach bus ride down 1-35. No kid should ever have to deal with that. It’s a tragedy that the adults can’t figure it out and do right by these kids.

lol...you guys play the semi & final at home every year and have convinced yourself it’s an “equal playing surface” type of situation =D> I’m pulling for Andover to make State this year...not because I’m an Andover fan, but because I want to see a TC team get to State in 7AA. Who knows, once that happens, maybe a couple other Northern teams (including one you are quite familiar with) will grow a pair and move up to AA☝️

The weak often blame their failure on being a victim. “I fail because I’m a victim” they say. And they don’t just “say” it. They are usually screaming it from every corner until somebody feels bad for them and bails them out.

I assure you. Coach Manney and his boys do not feel they are victims. Weak fans are the victims 😐

I thought Coach Esse was a class act and ran a good program. He had some very good teams that just couldn’t get past East and Rapids. Who can forget their win over Anoka in the section final behind David Browns heroics. I think I know of one forum member who I’m sure would love to 😎.

Probably make sense for the Randover boys to go up the night before, then get an AM 'Amsoil' skate in- IF they make the finals....

Clearly a narcissistic northerner.... The team he disrespects most is ER by calling them relatively bad, while not disputing that, I find it interesting that you focus on his opinion of the northern teams and completely miss on the "bad" team that throttled the hounds despite driving up I35...

FWIW 2020 is Andovers year, I'd like to see CEC or Rapids make it down.

Guilty as charged 😉🤠 He put it to DE that year too ☝️And I agree on Coach Esse, the Anoka boys all liked playing for him that year in the Great 8 & respected his coaching acumen ☝️

It’s actually a back handed compliment MWS, I meant in relative comparison to the majority of their teams the past decade, especially 2013-2018 😊

I know 59, truth hurts sometimes! Lol
Just cranking it up for playoffs! Perfect opportunity to “highlight” thumping of hounds and get a little dig in at the same time...amazing thing is how many of those “good” teams didn’t get the W in Duluth yet the “relatively bad” team gets a shutout.

Do I think this years Andover team is as good as 2017 GR, 2018 DE, 2015 ER, or 2017 ER...no. I’m not even sure they’re as good as 2008 Anoka or 2008 DE. But... their seniors have a boat load of section playoff experience, they have two ELITE senior defensemen & at least raw talent wise, this is as “relatively “ weak as their top 3 rivals have been in recent years. So should they advance, absolutely, because they have (generally) more talented, more playoff experienced players. But will they? As I’ve noted before, only if they collectively (players & coaches) can handle the moment of playing in pressure packed elimination games. And that isn’t proven until you actually do it. ☝️

Despite beating Cloquet 5-0 and beating Maple Grove last night, East still couldn't pass Cloquet in PageStat. They sure as hell won't pass them after today's results.

Sorry for the ignorance and not keeping up, but is section seven seeding locked into the formula it was in the recent past? Or is that gone? If it still exists is there a link that has the current seedings (or most recent)? If so I'd appreciate someone sharing the link. Thanks!

Rapids at Cloquet on Tuesday, and I haven’t got a clue. At Duluth East for QF will be interesting that’s for sure. CEC won 5-4 in OT at home , and got hit by a Mac truck in Duluth 5-0.
