NAHL Draft, Tues June 4th

Post by muckandgrinder65 » Tue May 28, 2019 6:28 pm

Any predictions or insights regarding tenders or likely draft teams for upcoming MN HS Seniors or 19' grads?
Wonder if Bismarck will land a couple more DEAST boys?

Always interesting to watch, especially when you see a Jr/Sr or two get drafted in a high round as that provides insight into who may be leaving early.

Being a NAHL fan. Here was the Magicians write up after the 2018 draft and the players they drafted in correct order. Always fun to see who plays and pans out every season. Same with Austin and Cloquet (MN Wilderness).

Jensen and Henkemeyer-Howe were both before and afters.

DeStefani didn’t make the team. The rest logged significant ice time.

Welcome the 2018 North American Hockey League draft class of the Minnesota Magicians:

Moritz Wirth (6/10/99) 6-2 195

Wirth is a skilled-defenseman from Frankfurt, Germany. Last season, he played for the Boston Jr. Bandits in the NCDC, where he had seven goals and 20 assists in 50 games played. We are excited about adding Wirth to our group,” said Magicians’ Head Coach/ General Manager AJ Bucchino. Moritz is a smooth-skating defenseman who brings a lot of skill to our blue and believe he can have an impact on our team right away.”

Jack Jensen (8/31/00) 6-0 190

Jack Jensen is a forward from Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Last year at Eden Prairie High School, Jensen had 20 goals and 18 assists in 25 games with the Eagles. “Jack is a dynamic offensive player, who is a threat to score from anywhere on the ice,” said Magicians’ Assistant Coach Gaven Bickford. “He has great strength for his age and we are excited to have Jack be a part of the Magicians.” Jensen is also committed to the University of Minnesota and is ranked the 98th North American skater on NHL Central Scouting for the upcoming NHL Draft.

Isaac Henkemeyer-Howe (8/19/00) 6-0 205

Isaac Henkemeyer-Howe is a forward from Moorhead, Minnesota. Last season at Moorhead High School, he has 16 goals and 14 assists in 28 games with the Spuds. “Isaac is a power forward who loves to go to the dirty areas on the ice,” said Magicians’ Head Coach/GM AJ Bucchino. We excited for Isaac to join our team and see him take his games to the next level in the North American Hockey League.”

Joel Pavey (7/18/00) 5-10 160

Joel Pavey is a center from Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. Last season in 34 games played, Pavey tallied 10 goals and 29 assists for Sarnia Legionnaires in the GOJHL. “Joel is a playmaking center, who always seems to find the open man,” said Magicians’ Assistant Coach Gaven Bickford. “We are excited about drafting a Joel and believe he can have an impact moving forward with the Magicians.”

Ethan Haider (9/4/01) 6-2 170

Ethan Haider is a goaltender from Maple Grove, Minnesota. Last season with Maple Grove High School, Haider started 23 games with 2.94 goals against average and a .908 save percentage. “Ethan is one of the best goalies in his age group,” said AJ Bucchino. “He has great size and is extremely athletic for the goalie position. We look forward to seeing what Ethan can do at our Main Camp and in the future with the Magicians”

Cade DeStefani (6/21/01) 6-1 165

Cade DeStefani is from Bedford, New Hampshire and his older brother, Ethan, played for the Magicians this past season. Cade played U16’s for the Northern Cyclones in the USPHL. In 27 games, he had 22 goals and 29 assists for the Cyclones. “Cade is skilled-forward who has great shot,” said Gaven Bickford. “We excited about drafting Cade and believe his size and skill will be effective in our league.”

That’s a look at the 2018 Minnesota Magicians draft class. Congrats to all the players drafted by the Magicians. The season is just a few months away and we can not wait to get started! #MagiHockey

Thanks for posting this. I was a little behind. Disappointing to see the Magicians only draft one, but the nature of the beast. Hoping to see Begley have a great year and land a D1 spot.
