GP is not a dominant team like recent EL past teams (2016 & 2017 North; 2017 & 2018 SW).

The standings indicate EL parity with GP leading with 15 points after 13 games.

3 teams are tied for 4th - 6th place (Map South, TCO and Sit) with 11 points after 12 games.

I was thinking that GP was probably the best EL team, but then SSM make them look no better than any other EL team on Sunday.
Also heard they are practicing which could give them a ‘team play’ edge.
Let’s see if they can keep it going....
Right on Shattuck. Although I heard Sanford outshot Shattuck by a margin so hard to say what it means. Was Sanford missing anyone on Sunday? Some of the studs from Cathedral maybe?

No Warner
No Troumbly
No Gramer

Still, no excuses...but 3 D1 commits would definitely make a difference had they played against Shattuck.

Also...not that it matters, but it is funny where this "information" comes from....GP has not practiced together once all season other than the training camp day in Fargo, which is what every Elite league team did. (just watch our power play...that would be proof enough :D)

Did the games in Fargo occur this weekend or did they get snowed out?

The interesting thing is Minnesota doesn't churn out a lot of early commit goalies. There is very few committed goalies that play in it. It's great for exposure - yes - but does it help? I don't know that it does?

NHL Draftees

http://www.hselitehockey.com/nhl-draft-picks

From most recent: Ethan Haider, Jared Moe, Charlie Lindgren (not listed for some reason), Zane Gothberg (aka Zane McIntyre)

College Commits (from 2016 on...)

There's no list - but off memory (please add kids I may have missed).

Haider, Moe, Stejskal, Enright, Eisele, Evenson, Ullan (just going back to 2016).

When you figure 16 goalies per year - it's a bit of an eye opener.

---

IMO - if you're a goalie, you do it to face quality players and gear yourself up for the next level. There is downsides though. While it's been a more defensive league the last few years. Don't laugh - look at goalie stats now vs 2-3 years ago - Enright, Moe, Karki, Holum, Kelly, Haider, Fritsinger, - all had GAA above 4! Save% in the mid to upper 800s. Some teams simply suck and the goalie gets blasted. How about the 17 goal shelling done Sunday afternoon? How is that for a confidence builder for Manzella and whoever else played in net?
The 2016 class of HSEL goalies has proven to be very successful in moving on through juniors and on to college opportunities. While still early, the last couple of HSEL goalie crops has had nowhere near the same level of success in that regard and in fact we've seen several goalies who didn't participate in the HSEL secure USHL and NAHL goalie roster spots (Boynton, Howe, Allen, Mackay, etc.).

So playing HSEL doesn't really appear to do those who participate in it any great favors and/or the HSEL has missed on their selections the past couple of years? Probably a combination of both.

Did they make up the Fargo games? If so, those aren't included in the stats yet.

They played one of them against each team. My understanding is those games counted as points for two games, I.E. win = 4 points, but that is just what I heard at the rink this weekend, the standings don't reflect that. If that was the case, doesn't really matter as Sanford Power won both of them and even without the additional 4 points they are in first.
