RIP Greg Trebil

MN HS hockey has lost one of its most iconic coaches of the past several decades. Greg Trebil was a vital piece of the Bloomington Jefferson dynasty years as the bantam coach and made waves when he jumped ship for the Holy Angels job, where he won two state titles and built the Stars into a powerhouse for the better part of a decade. He'll certainly be missed.

Remember seeing him smoking and pacing outside Aldrich before a game. I said you look nervous and he said if you are not nervous before a game, it's time to stop coaching.

Sad day when I heard on Wednesday, I have a lot of memories of Greg. Too many to list and too many to try and pick as the best one. Pete Waggoner's article sums it up. All those players mentioning how he spoke to you and not yelled is the way to coach. All the practices I watched I hardly saw him skate or even use a stick. Always had time to talk and when you asked him about his team for the year it was always "we are going to be fun to watch" He was right....
