I'm sure Blaine is trying to get out of the game tonight. I understand, it might be a trend this year... 8)

Nick Pierre beautiful snipe from low angle goal line . Pios 2-0 early in 2nd . Please turn up heat Aldrich staff!

Richels scores to make it 2-1!

Beautiful Blaine sequence ,with pass to Richels for a one timer goal. 2-2 with 9 left in 2nd

Richels Shorty breakaway , just misses Hattie

Tied 2-2 after 2 . Sogs 21-15 bengals

Strobel puts Pios ahead early in Third. Bengal goalie left himself out of position

Still 3-2 with 9.46 remaining

Crowd estimate 1000-1200

Another pipe for Blaine , that’s got to be a half dozen tonite

4 min remaining. Bengals need one

Strobel gets his second , after 2 Bengals collide to leave him open with puck

Faceoff near Koepple with 6 Blaine skaters , 1 to go

Nice job by Pios to win home opener 4-2

UPDATE : final sogs 27-21

Checked with ticket office on way out the door . 770 tickets plus comps in attendance

Well my wife said it was an even game. And she's probably right. All I know is I sit in Southern California wine country and still get to watch my Pioneers play my other favorite team, Blaine. Really even tilt tonight. Biggest difference is goaltending, and that may even out over time. Blaine has snipers and could easily have won the game. That all said, my Pioneers are still on the undefeated train...

Same view here. Koepple was the difference. Watched from Philadelphia. The quality of these streaming broadcasts continues to improve. Go Pioneers!

Agree either team could have one this one. Bengals hit 4 maybe 5 pipes. Koepple was good. Stopped two breakaways, one on Richels. Giles at the game scouting the Bengals for Friday’s game.

I don't know that I've seen a game with that many pipes

Remember what Darren Pang (and I love this quote) said when they asked him what he thought when a shot sailed by him and hit the post...

He said "I thought... I played that perfectly. If it had been on net I'd of had it!"

There's a lot of truth to it. A goalie in position forces a ton of shots wide and high.
Be kind. Rewind.
