Captains

Post by kniven » Mon Nov 25, 2019 1:05 pm

A question for my forum friends and foes. Are Captains traditionally seniors. Who votes. Can they vote for anybody. Can the coaches over ride the vote. When are captains usually announced to the team. Is it common for Captains not be announced tell we’ll into the season. What if the coaches disagree. How does the voting process usually work. Is it a really big deal to most teams or no a big deal. What usually is the role of captains.

I believe it is different from one place to another.
When I coached the coaches chose one and the players voted for two.

Oh ok. That’s cool. I think all the traditions and ways of selecting captains is awesome, but I am not familiar with the many ways this process unfolds.

At my old school the players voted for two at the end of the season for the next season, and it could be any year as long as they had lettered that year. it was subject to coaches approval .

Players vote, coaches veto and pick kids they want to stay, kids who's families they are closest to or who donate most or kids they like most regardless of leadership....

The reason I’m asking is because the CEC coaches haven’t announced our captains yet, and we’ve had 2 games already. I’m not alarmed or angry.....just curious.

I’m going to hijack this thread in hopes that a few people can help me fill this list of captains like I believe Kniven is trying to do for me for Cloquet!

Check it out. Lots of teams missing captains still!

My kid's team does rotating captains. Two new ones every game so far this season.
