Brutal!
Kittson Cental ... Gentray got pounded by TRF... LDC... Hermantown at 9!! EGF at 16 that hurts my eyes.
Re: QRF top 20 A at 12-9-19
While I agree that the rankings are wonky and make no sense right now, all computer rankings need a certain amount of data until they can properly stabilize. QRF certainly has its flaws (notably the A/AA distinction), but has actually has done a fine job with the 7AA seeding the past few seasons.

Doesn't EGF get "penalized" for playing the GF schools?

Yes of course...
Why wouldn't they? Right?
After mid-Jan, they'll drop right out of the top 20, or 30, or 100....
What is a Green Wave anyway?
Re: QRF top 20 A at 12-9-19
Agreed that the QRF can produce some headscratchers, but the subjective rankings tend to let bias of the past seep in. Teams that have done well in recent seasons tend to be given much more grace than a team that is fighting its way up the list. Maybe those teams have earned that grace, but it certainly lends to the need for a more objective ranking somehow. Too early for QRF to be considered. But there’s probably a place for it or something like it.Stang5280 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 7:08 pmWhile I agree that the rankings are wonky and make no sense right now, all computer rankings need a certain amount of data until they can properly stabilize. Also, I think it’s a bit overstated that TRF pounded Gentry. 7-4 @ mini Ralph with Gentry heavy on Fresh and Sophs, many making their HS debuts. First period was brutal, but they outshot TRF 30-8 in periods 2-3 after settling in. Since then, they’ve been lights out. Gentry’s not close to #3, but it shows how easy it is to dismiss the team coming up from the bottom when they lose 1 game versus other more notable teams who have lost multiple games to inferior teams.

This! As with any type of mathematical system, the sample size is just too small at this point in the season. Fun to look at right now, but the QRF doesn't really start to shake out until New Years, at the earliest.Stang5280 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 7:08 pm While I agree that the rankings are wonky and make no sense right now, all computer rankings need a certain amount of data until they can properly stabilize. I am all in favor of mathematical systems for rankings and taking the "smoke filled back room politics" out of it. Will any mathematical system be perfect, no. But neither is coaches' seedings due to human nature.
