:^o The forums favorite state champions:

Talented teams with the most skill are always fun to watch and are most likely the team that ends the season smothering the man in between the pipes with a dog pile. As a retired taxidermist and part time tattoo artist I find that to be boring.

Some of my favorite years of watching the tournament from my tattoo parlors basement I have found more joy and entertainment watching the teams that have players leaving it all on the ice knowing they will not be playing another hockey game for eternity.

The 1975 Halloween machine is my personal favorite. The talent was present on this team as it is required for a crack at the title.

I can only imagine the amount of cigarettes and Budweiser that was being chain smoked and binge drank on the bus back up north in 75. I did find great pleasure of reading the local news paper in 2016 that Wayzata Trojans broke the city of Plymouth’s prior record of minor consumption tickets given out by law enforcement on a signal night with a staggering 48 tickets. I have always wondered what happened next when channel 45 cuts me off every year . This observation from 2016 painted quite The picture for me.

This is one of those random odd posts that has me wondering if the author is teetering on the brink of reality. For one thing, the legal drinking age in 1975 was 18, meaning a majority of players and students likely could partake. However, to surmise that players were allowed to drink and smoke on a Grand Rapids school bus is, to me, ludicrous, at best.

I'm not sure what is being celebrated in this post: the fact that role players have a hand in winning a state title and then hang up their skates forever, or that we have a team from the past with which we have a particular connection, or that we can derive pleasure from underage drinkers being ticketed for consumption? Or am I to read this post with tongue firmly planted in cheek??

Does the continuous sniffing of tattoo ink eventually render the artist incapable of rational thinking?

Some are old enough to remember. There were schools where, back in the 1970's, students would go into the designated smoking lounge and take a smoke break...right with their teachers. Or there is was always that one designated spot on campus where students would gather to smoke, it was out in the open and nobody cared. Student drinking was not that big of a deal either because the drinking age was 18 and it was just something high school kids did.

In a way they were much simpler times.

I'd love to nominate Reggie Miracle's 1983 Columbia Heights team that sadly came up short. What a story that could have been.

Loved the 1977 RJM team that beat an undefeated Edina East.

2007 Roseau.

Perhaps the greatest team to win it all, 1993 Jefferson.

Too bad Tonka couldn't match them in 2010. :(
