Tourney Reflection 2020

Post by karl(east) » Tue Mar 10, 2020 9:20 pm

As always, my favorite piece to write each year: my post-Tourney wrap-up piece.

https://apatientcycle.com/2020/03/10/to ... tion-2020/

Thanks again to everyone on this forum for keeping this place alive and kicking and fun. It's been a pleasure! Hard to believe this is the 9th time I've written one of these, and that I've been moderating this place for over 10 years now. Though I know I'm still a spring chicken compared to many of you. :P

Great stuff as always, Karl. While I always enjoy your contributions here on the board, your free-form writing is even more entertaining to read.

I meant to mention this earlier, but I got a chuckle and felt a bit of pride in noticing that you used my rankings in the Class A portion of your state tournament preview. I have a bit of egg on my face after having Mahtomedi down at #7, but I guess I stand by it based on their performance down the stretch.

Thanks, Stang (and everyone else). The free-form is my favorite to write...wish I could do more of it, but there are only so many hours in a week.

And, gotta stay loyal to the forum rankings for my previews!

Great stuff as always, Karl. I want to echo those who have thanked you for your tremendous service to high school hockey and all who follow it. Sunday morning coffee won't be the same without your rankings and I'll reluctantly find a different podcast for my Monday commutes.

I'm hoping you guys will drop a pod or two this summer? :)

Karl, you helped me finally join this raucous (sometimes) bunch last June & it has been fun. Before this, my life was nothing. :^o
Thanks for all of your insights with your ranking postings & other words of wisdom & most of all for helping me out to join. Been a blast.
Great virus-free summer to all of you guys. :)

Karl, from one wordsmith to another, your wrap up covers the rich tapestry that is the state tournament. I came of age during the heyday of the tournament, and I'm pleased to find that it has survived two classes far better than I thought it would.

I fondly recall meeting Karl some years back at an afternoon HM @ BSM match. Yes, I touched the hem of his garment.

Well I have yet to meet Karl, but one of these days I will. But ESPG had it right. You capture the feel of hockey and your insight is appreciated. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with the world. Thanks Karl and everyone have a safe next month.
