Nice how MShSL puts it all on hill in their statement. Like, hey, the tram forfeited, we had nothing to to do with this.

And it seems to just be implied the 2nd game of the session will still be at 1:00, and not be moved up an hour or whatever.

I agree, it is very unfair to cast doubt on WB when all you have is speculation.

Also, if I were just trying to gin up something, I wouldn't base it on a player that was barely on the ice.

Obviously the MSHSL account of that discussion is grossly inaccurate. Bummer for the Pios.

Looks like with the optional day and with Wayzata's cooperation this game could've been played Thurs. but mshl's refusal to make this accommodation and a thinly veiled place-the-blame on-HM changes their name to Minnesota State High School BUSH League.

Question...(not trying to flame)

Could Hill-Murray have suited up their JV team to play Wayzata, similar to what Hermantown did?

I was trying to get an answer: posts on twitter said it was a combination of the JV not practicing for weeks and it being spring spring so some players are on vacation. Not sure what number they would have had available

Playing the JV would be tantamount to a forfeit.

I’m NOT implying foul play by WBL at all and not a conspiracy theorist but it would be dumb to not look into it. Knee jerk reaction to cry conspiracy is dumb but so is knee jerk reaction to say that WBL would never ever do something like that. It should be looked into

... and that’s exactly how they get away with it. Doesn’t hurt to look. If nothing to hide and no foul then should be absolutely nothing to worry about

Can someone explain to me why the League didn’t have a plan in place where the Section Runnersup would replace any Section winner who couldn’t participate due to COVID issues? It’s not like this COVID thing sprung up overnight.

Well, the Section runner up in this instance has a COVID positive player. And the Centennial girls' opponent in the Section final had close contact with an opponent (from Centennial). So I'm not sure how the runner up could take part.

Fine, flesh it out. Just who would have started this? One player? A few players? A parent? A coach? AD? Just how many of those are in on it?

Remember, the more who are in on it, the more likely it is for the truth to come out. Just a few kids with knowledge of a secret, related to such a public controversy, is really difficult for them to keep it quiet.

Its really a stretch to suggest that an AD or principal would make a very difficult call to the MShSL, on a matter like this, when they know it is completely bogus. It would take a complete lack of integrity, and that is very unfair without any basis for it.

This is a very serious accusation, and to make it based 100% on speculation is some serious bull stuff. For Pete's sake I'm defending WB now.

I leave it to the mods on whether or not to shut this down now, but I wouldn't blame them if they do.

This is a Minnesota Department of Health guideline, pages 15 and 16 of the Return to Play document dated March 14th.

And it states 14 days is a RECOMMENDATION and also states "If the exposure of the athlete occurs during sports and the athlete is masked, they ARE eligible for shortened quarantine for sports" and if you go to the link that says "What to Do if You Have Had Close Contact With a Person With COVID-19" under ""How to Quarantine" it states "The safest option is to stay home and away from others for 14 days. In certain situations, you may end your quarantine after 10 days, or after seven days with a negative COVID-19 test result. You cannot end your quarantine before seven days for any reason."

I feel bad for all kids in activities that have been affected by Civi 19.

I feel much worse for my friend Dan Culhane’s family.
Dan passed away from Covid about a month ago.

Dan was an exceptional MSHSL and USA hockey referee who worked games in Minnesota for decades. Dan was also a local radio personality, husband, father and grandfather.

He was a recent cancer survivor who possibly contracted the virus in Carver county working games back in January.

You can google him to learn more about his story.

Hopefully the vaccines will greatly reduce stories like Dan’s from happening in the future.

Didn’t think I could dislike WBL more. Heard rumors they were prepared to pull something like this before the game was even played. If you can’t beat’em on the ice at least during Covid you can end their season off the ice.

Sad that the MSHSL claims to put the student athletes first...they’ve failed in multiple situations to make a positive judgement call on more than one situation this year. Centennial girls - plenty of time to play their quarterfinal game before this Thursday among others. The list goes on...

I understand it is a recommendation, realistically no entity is going to not follow a MDH recommendation, especially schools.

Also, wearing a mask and being masked are two entirely different things. No one who watches any amount of high school hockey would say that close contact is masked by the definition MDH gives....."A face covering must cover the mouth and nose completely"

I am just pointing out that blaming WBL or the MSHSL is not fair. If you want to assign blame it should towards the MDH, not those following their guidance.

I read the statement and thought highly of HM for stating it how they did. Made them look like the bigger man in all of this.

Quite the comment toward the 90% that attend public schools. Minnesota passive aggressive much? Way to put the meme at the end of your comment to try to cover your tracks. Probably something the Hill Murray education can teach a person.

Feel free to give my spelling and grammar a once over. How about we stay on topic and drop the nonsense.

What would be the outcome that would change the current situation and what would it accomplish? I highly doubt that given the timeline and MSHSL staffing that there could be any type of investigation beyond a phone call that would provide even a measure of satisfaction to those who feel they are bring wronged and being singled out due to "dislike" of the program they support.

It sucks for all as this entire past year has for so many reasons but it's time to move on.
