Class A semifinal--EGF vs Gentry Academy

Post by east hockey » Fri Apr 02, 2021 12:51 pm

Well this is nice...WDIO just cut away from the game to show footage of the Capitol shooting. Dammit.

And they're back. I missed GA scoring twice and taking the 4-3 lead.

EGF stuck with them through 2 periods. But the top end talent of GA was too much. Entertaining game though...

Gentry has the one thing which is hard to teach/coach- speed.
But they also are strong skater, passers and shooters.
Also disciplined and smart.

People may not like the Gentry concept but you have to admire the hockey.

But applause for EgF effort also.

They were definitely bigger and faster. I was surprised EGF was able to box them in their zone so much though. And their Brimsek award finalist didn't look great today. But the better team won. Congrats to GA.

Well, that was the championship game for all practical purposes. The next semifinal should be entertaining, but neither of those teams will challenge Gentry. EGF threw some haymakers early, but some sloppy defense in the third ultimately doomed them. You can’t allow Gentry space to make plays, because they inevitably bury those chances.

Nonetheless a strong performance by the Green Wave, and it’s unfortunate that we won’t have the chance to see what Hermantown would do against the Stars.

I mean, I guess if you’re into 8-2 state finals, enjoy tomorrow’s thrashing of LF or DC.

I suppose not, but I'm also on the Lamb parade. :)

I see there are some of you that think that Gentry took it to em’ today, but that was a very even game that could’ve went either way. EGF had as many good looks as Gentry and actually more shots on net and more high quality scoring chances. I agree that with Hermantown out of the picture, that was essentially the ship game. Great game by both teams and good luck to Gentry and DC/LF winner.

Agree with you TT. That wasn’t a David vs Goliath game. EGF can play with them and did.

Well, apparently there will be a rematch next season. EGF wasting no time in releasing their schedule!

Yes, saw that on Twitter. A very challenging schedule. Good to see.
