Tourney Reflection 2021

Post by karl(east) » Tue Apr 06, 2021 10:40 pm

A pleasure as always. Here's the 2021 edition, my 10th in this series: https://apatientcycle.com/2021/04/06/to ... tion-2021/

It'll be going up on YHH as well.

Tues thru Thur were very meh: the Covid situations with Hill-Murray and Hermantown kind of threw a wet blanket over the start. On a personal level, I wasnt able to watch all the games, as I didnt take off work like I usually do (games starting on Tues made that hard). The lack of fans was noticeable and then the games werent that good (at least at the end: we saw a lot of games close at the end of 2 but the higher seeded team pulled away before the end).

But Fri and Sat were much better, with only the A Championship being the lone blow-out on those two days. The late Friday session lived up to what Semifinal Friday should be. Two really good girls championships on Sat and a great AA championship. So after a slow build, we still saw a lot of great hockey.

One plus side was the shorter games as 45 had fewer media timeouts and they did a good job getting the games started sooner. Hopefully that is a permanent change.

Fun & great analysis through-out the season as usual, Karl. And written with the flow of a painter's brush I might add. A very strange season indeed. Hopefully not to be repeated. God bless your "off-season".
