Between Edina and Andover/Rapids, one of the top three seeds will get a tougher draw than the other two. This potential field makes a good argument to seed 1 - 8. It's not hard to see Edina or Andover/Rapids as finalists; Lake South and PL not so much.

Why do you consider MG the favorite? They are the lower seed and lost to Rogers this year once already.

Thats pretty close to what I have:

#1 Seed: Cretin
#2 Seed: Hill
#3 Seed: Moorhead
#4 Seed: Maple Grove
#5 Seed: Grand Rapids, but possibly Edina sneaks in here given their 8 game win streak, very difficult SOS, 4 straight shutouts and the fact that they beat Grand Rapids 5-1 earlier this year. You could also make the argument that Edina came out of the hardest section (again, without giving up a goal)
Unseeded: Prior Lake
Unseeded: Lakeville South
Unseeded: Grand Rapids or Edina, see above

Of course I'm making assumptions on winners tonight and tomorrow. This gets blown up with other outcomes

Fair point BarDown . Just going by LPH rankings for this post

If Rogers wins , they would probably be unseeded and Edina would move up into the 4/5 game ?

Rogers absolutely can beat MG tonight, but MG is the favorite. MG outplayed and outshot Rogers but lost to them by a goal when they played. MG was not playing well at the time. They got beat 6-3 by Centennial around that time as well, and then came out and smoked Centennial 6-0 Saturday. They are playing better than when they played earlier this season, and their overall body of work makes MG the favorite. When MG is on their game they can beat anyone. But, still, Rogers unquestionably could win tonight.

I think Edina gets the 5 seed if Rogers wins. Regardless, Edina is a dangerous team going into the tourney. Wouldn't want to face them first round.

Maple Grove and Moorhead have exact same record. Moorhead currently ranked one spot higher than MG by Let’s Play Hockey, but MG won the head-to-head matchup super early in season 5-2. Both teams are hot right now. Coin toss over who gets seeded higher at tourney.

CDH vs Edina First Round QF would be amazing. Hornets would be the favorite as the unseeded team I would think.

If Edina is unseeded they could theoretically random draw the Pioneers in the first round . Something tells me that won’t happen though 🤣

Andover (Class AA) and Warroad (Class A) each have an opportunity to be State Champions together with their girls program. I wonder when the last time a school has won both the girls and the boys in the same year?

Why not? Hill got completely screwed in the 2020 seeding.

Here's what I see playing out:

AA: 1 Cretin, 2 Hill (pending win), 3 Moorhead, 4 Maple Grove, 5 Andover; Lakeville South, Prior Lake, Edina unseeded,
A: 1 Hermantown, 2 Warroad, 3 Mahtomedi (pending win), 4 Minneapolis, 5 Alexandria; New Prague, Mankato East, Monticello unseeded.

MPLS could get the 3 over Mahtomedi wouldnt be a total shock. However I agree with how you have it above

For those two teams, I'd prefer to be in the bracket with Cre-tine, rather than HM. But, that would mean the 4 seed and definitely a respectable opponent in the 5 seed. The 3 seed may get PL or Lake South, or the remaining unseeded team, which will (like the 5 seed) be a respectable opponent.

Yep, I'm throwing shade at both PL and LVS. And at Cre-tine as well, I guess.

What's interesting here is as a HM fan, I'd much rather see Moorhead on day 2 than the winner of Andover/Maple Grove. Not that Moorhead can't win it all, they can. I'd still rather play them.

Is this AA tournament going to have the most parity of any in the last X years?

It seems like it's been a while since I've felt that every match-up could go either way and not be a surprise. Even PL when that top line is rolling (they will play a lot of minutes especially with the TV timeouts), they could upset one of the top seeds.

I can't see the the Lakers or the Lake being capable of more than one upset. And I give them little shot of even one upset.

But of the top 6, it's not hard to imagine any of them winning it all. Hopefully the tournament offers more excitement that the section finals, which were not very compelling. There wasn't a single overtime game.
