Nothing like the Hawks to get the forum going a little bit like the ole days!
Hermantown 4 New Prague 1 end of 2nd period
The Hawks jumped all over the Trojans scoring 3 goals in the first three minutes of the period. Wyatt Carlson, Zam Plante and Dominic Thomas all lit the lamp for Hermantown. Zam Plante scored his 2nd and it looked like an ugly rout was on. However, New Prague was able to hang in there after that and Will Andersen scored a power play goal for the Trojans. A scoreless 2nd period was another win for New Prague as they are hanging around with the Hawks.

Opsahl was the starter as a Soph they go out and get the Duluth East kid now yur the backup after being in the Hawks program all the way through?
Hawks looking like a Coach Andrews club in March very blah performance after a quick start 3 minutes in.... Could we be heading for another Coach Andrews Playoff letdown for the 5th straight year?

Hermantown 5 New Prague 1 Final
Max Plante adds a goal in the third period and that was the game. Hermantown wins 5-1 and moves on to Friday afternoon.

The more uninspired tourney performances we see from Hermantown, the more obvious it becomes that these kids just aren't enthused to play against inferior competition. They've played AA teams almost exclusively their entire lives and done very, very well.ClassAGuy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 8:04 pmHow does that go over in Htown?GopherHockey wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 7:59 pm Nice of coach to get the hometown goalie in for a couple minutes.

Not so sure in regards to this game. Puente was playing out of his mind; if not it’s at least 8-1…rainier2 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 8:08 pmThe more uninspired tourney performances we see from Hermantown, the more obvious it becomes that these kids just aren't enthused to play against inferior competition. Thats a team they should of beat 8-1 I agree but take away first 3 minutes it was a 2-1 game yes they are a machine but that was not a great look in March hockey. They got worse after the start didn't look focused 2nd period and third was very blahheadsupsticksdown wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 8:10 pmNot so sure in regards to this game. For the record, both goalies are from East....but last year's starter has been there a few years. I can't remember whether he moved to Hermantown as a squirt or peewee, but he's a Duluth kid as well.ClassAGuy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 8:04 pmHow does that go over in Htown?GopherHockey wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 7:59 pm Nice of coach to get the hometown goalie in for a couple minutes.

If you’re talking about Opsahl, he came up through Portman, but has been with HTown from PWs.Duluthguy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 1:08 pmFor the record, both goalies are from East....but last year's starter has been there a few years. They actually have a Hibbing kid too, who I believe would’ve been in the mix had Callaway not come along.

Correct. I think we're in agreement here. While the kid never "wore the red and grey" in the youth program, Portman is in the East district.headsupsticksdown wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 1:25 pmIf you’re talking about Opsahl, he came up through Portman, but has been with HTown from PWs.Duluthguy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 1:08 pmFor the record, both goalies are from East....but last year's starter has been there a few years. That is the danger of transferring to a program which makes its living off of the transfer game: an upgrade can show up at anytime.headsupsticksdown wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 1:25 pmIf you’re talking about Opsahl, he came up through Portman, but has been with HTown from PWs.Duluthguy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 1:08 pmFor the record, both goalies are from East....but last year's starter has been there a few years.
