I caught the East vs STA game. East won 6-4 on an empty netter. Thought STA had the better chances, but East took advantage of their opportunities.

Are these rosters pretty much set or are they playing kids on the bubble, etc? What’s the deal with these tournaments, are the regular coaches not allowed and how are the players selected? Am sure the rosters aren’t set as STA had quite a few kids in the red breezer/white bucket combo (WStP) out there…

Pipes - there was a scrum in the Mg ozone .Pushing and shoving . From what I saw one of MG forwards got his hands around a Gentry kids face cage. Scrum ended pretty quickly but that’s an automatic DQ.

What are the results of the games so far? Also, curious if Gunderson and Brink are playing for MG?

Also, just saw on MG Twitter feed that all players who played for MG this weekend were JV or Bantam AA last year, so that answers my previous question re Brink and Gunderson.

Actually, I guess there was a JV tourney as well, so scratch that previous post by me!

At the varsity level, MG beat Wayzata in semis and Holy Family beat Lakeville South in other semi. MG and HF squaring off for championship.

Thank you for correction my friend just sent me a picture of the scores on the sheet at the rink had Lakeville South in Chip instead HF ousted them in a ugly summer game full of pims and fights.

Sounds like many teams like Wayzata, CDH, Rogers to name few missing their top gums this weekend might not be the best indictor like in years past too bad as in prior years this was the best preview of the summer.

Biggest surprise regardless the FIRE... Had a young squad last year nice showing by them.

Hopefully WestMetro (FabFiveHockeyFansMN) can give us a better idea of what he saw being at the games today!

MG over HF 3-2 in OT. Brink did play for MG this weekend but doesn’t look like Gunderson did. I don’t know what Gunderson’s plans are next year. He’s committed to Western Michigan and I assume he could choose between playing for MG next year or in USHL. Nelson didn’t play for MG this weekend, of course, as he’s playing for NTDP U-18 team next year. MG had depth to be strong again next year no matter what but state championship odds obviously are much better with Gunderson on team.

impossible to draw any conclusions while watching summer hockey , but for what it’s worth :

—MG had a pretty easy win over Trojans in their semi , had a shutout going til the last 5 minutes . Gunderson and Nelson did not play ; nor did Ingemann and I wasn’t sure either Wallin or Miller were on the ice for the Trojans

- HF already had a lead over LVS when I walked down there for their semi , and they added 3 more quick ones in the middle of the second . Don’t think Hochsprung was in goal . Last 5 minutes were chaotic . South was trying to close the gap when a scrum ensued and refs should’ve called concurrents but didn’t . South bench and fan section went nuts , refs then tossed the South coach and put another player in box also . Fire went on for the big win.

- I didn’t stay for the Chip , but Fire apparently gave Crims all they could handle b4 MG won in OT

- Had a chance to chat with MG alums Josh Guiliani and Ethan Elias so that was fun

- The impressive thing about HF weekend is they played something in the range of 8-10 kids that were not on varsity last year . Many of whom are sophomores . Also ironic that Fire Dman Cam Dean from MG bantams faced many of his buddies in the Chip game . This weekend streak will give the Fire some big confidence and make Section 2 more interesting

- Didn’t watch Chan this weekend but keep in mind their talent pool was split into two teams at BIG
